Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Being in office next couple weeks .. What a JOKE

I would love someone to explain why I need to drive to the office just to speak to NO ONE as most people are now on vacation. I didn’t speak to a soul today. Obnoxious waste of gas and time.

A lot of groups were told not to come in these two weeks if they didn’t want too. (In spite of what the VP and SVP stated on their town halls). Not my group though. We were told still three days in the office. It was just me. Watched some movies on my phone. Real long lunch breaks. Gym breaks. Shopping. It wasn’t a good two weeks.

It is working aint it? You're pi---d and looking to quit. No need to give u severance. They want you to quit. Nothing makes sense in the RTO launching.

Don’t worry about being alone. They’re working on that. 9 hub offices.

You can rest assured that the execs are watching this site and listening to the whining from everyone and laughing their as--s off. They LOVE IT that they have this much control over people because they always got bullied around when they were younger. You know i am right.

Why else would they “daddy up” and eliminate other hubs when the big boss man is happy with 9. Right Batman??

The Stank could not care less about any peons in the phone co bureaucracy. He thinks if he was doing everything it would be APPLE-GOOG-TSLA-NVDA-V-MSFT rolled into 1. Little peoples gas and time are hardly a concern to 1 of the biggest failed corp con men in US history

No one is looking at the reports for the last 2 weeks of the year. Move on with your life.

"Live your designation" is possibly the worst, cheapest statement the AT&T clowns have spewed that I have seen in my 3 decades at AT&T.
By the way, can we remove entire wall of MSOC posters that adorn the wall of every work center? I mean I could tell a MSOC coach to hide and go F- themselves if I could find one.

Boo hoo, you have to drive to work and don't like working in an office. No one is forcing you to stay with the company. There are plenty of virtual jobs out there that fits your preference. Find it and stop complaining.

I cannot be fired working in the Central Office unless I stop coming into work. If I make a mistake, my Union Rep and management will have a meeting. I will see the manager's grin disappearer when they stumble around in my work environment. Everytime I try to report a lighting issue, CRE kicks it to the wind.

Life is good working for fools.

I still have no idea why people are still going into the office unless they are in one of the hubs. In the first quarter of 2024 nearly everyone outside of certain locations will be gone.

I am literally the only one in my office. Some of the other groups were exempted from the three days a week for the holidays; even though the two townhalls in C&E were pretty clear. I have to stand up and walk around every hour to get the motion lights back on. On the plus, if no one is there, then no one knows I am missing. I left and went holiday shopping for three hours today.

Your lights stay on for an hour before the motion sensor lights turn off?? You have it good. I walk into several different Central Offices every day, nearly pitch black because the low intensively bulbs are wasted and only offer a dim, flickering glow. Walk into the equipment space and try to do your job with the same motion sensors that is supposed only allow 5 minutes of poor lighting. ( SAVINGS!) I scoot around on the floor to connect a fiber circuit, and I am rewarded with 3 minutes of darkness. It's fine though, if I make a mistake, so be it. I will allow "management" to show me how they could do it better in the dark.

God Bless AT&T and their "idiocracy".

“I would love someone to explain why I need to drive to the office… blah blah blah”

Because your job requires it.

You come across as pretty entitled, but rather than complain here, why not go out and find a better job that doesn’t force you to do the things you don’t want to do?

“Rules for thee, but not for me.”

When AT&T moved to Dallas they got mega tax breaks with conditions....including number of employees who would be working at HQ, etc....this is city government and AT&T forcing people back to work to keep city employees employed, restaurants filled, the local economy going, etc...

Re having to go into work when noone else is there...come on ...Live your designation!!! :)

"Live your designation" is perhaps the stupidest phrase I have ever heard...

When you go to work, the company gets a tax break from the township because then their restaurants, shopping centers, parking lots fees, gyms, etc would increase in the flow of business from the employees. The company has to show the township how many people come into work in order to get the credit. That's why your company and many others are making you go to the office. Sure, it's a waste of time and money (for gas), but the company doesn't care cause it's money out of your pocket that they pay you to work for them. There are still many companies that offer remote or hybrid work, so you can always apply and see if you can get the job, but unemployment will rise drastically in 2024 as higher for longer Fed rates still are kicking into banks causing them to decrease the amount of lending due to lack of inflow of deposits. I think 2024 is going to be worse then 2023 as corporate earnings start to decrease and debt increases (defaulting). Money is contracting so there is less of it to go around. Oil prices will increase as OPEC+ starts to cut 2 Million barrels per day, instead of 1 Million as we saw in 2023 and when oil prices go up, so does everything else causing headline inflation to increase once again which will delay Federal Bank rate cuts. Basically, just drive into work and sit there without talking to anyone if you still want to keep your job. At least you have a job and an office to go into at the moment. Let's see what happens in 2024.

nothing at at&t makes sense. That's why the Stink is still in charge.

He's still trying to come up with anything and this is simply his latest ill conceived plan.

I know people who now have to drive more than 100 miles each was to a hub office because the old office (not their house) is no longer good enough just to sit with people they don't even work with. But I guess he expects them to strike up conversations with people that they don't work with and that will somehow make the company more productive.
