How many yesterday? Heard marketing was hit. Who else?

And they are buying up the offshore companies so they can legitimately say they aren’t outsourcing…offshoring does not work. Not in the phillipines not in Ireland not in Italy not in Iceland or isreal or India, The turnover at legato is so high it’s ridiculous, the employees do not understand how to do the work no matter how often you show them. It’s not their fault, there’s a language comprehension gap, and since they don’t do healthcare insurance the way we do , they have no concept of why they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing… so..needless to say the UM area is a walking breathing disaster .

Also folks let's not forget about the on shore people Visas Anthem is sponsoring. This would be for someone becoming and employee who is visa sponsored. No diploma or amount of experience can compete with that.
Also on shore contractors( vendors) who are not employees.
In addition outsourcing to vendors like IBM,
Deloitte
Internships
Temp agencies
People getting ' contracting ' jobs
Not to mention all the NEW hires who are trained by one of the above.

When shown the KPI Metrics for my area, we were told by our manager that on-shore cost/hour is $73/hour (I think, can’t remember the exact amount but it was in the $70s) and off-shore was $25/hour. If you are responsible for the strategy direction of ELV (as in portfolio and budget planning) what you do?

I am not advocating to off-shore all work just stating what we were told, so peace.

Claims was hit with offshoring almost 10 years ago and I know that has gotten way worse and not many claims reps remain as opposed to what once was.
Appeals on the provider side keep getting offshored.
IT has gotten offshored quite a bit.

It’s a mess. Unfortunately, I don’t see them slowing down on the offshoring any time soon.
They save money doing this and can pay them way less than the on shore reps.
Just remember- you are just a number to major corporations. You can bust your butt all day long and work with a company for years, but when push comes to shove, every company cares about their $ and what will save them the money $ as an end result.

Take care of YOURSELF.
Spend time with your family and friends and kids.
Do NOT let your job become your life and let this place stress you. It’s just not worth it.

I don't know if anyone else was hit or if marketing was hit. Not from actually hearing it from anyone. I just assumed they were after that e-mail about Bill Beck.

At what point does Elevance become a foreign company? They seem to be offshoring everything. I thought we sold health plans in the US.

They are moving as much as they can to offshore. This would include IT. Noticed in the Town Hall yesterday that they made it a point to say they are growing Carelon business in 2024. Carelon = offshore to India and the Philippines.
