Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Just got back from leave and just testing my manager

Access no, you do it yourself, badging in not working, no do it yourself. Anything I ask he doesn’t do it, so why are you a manager?

Am I off on this, or what is a manager anymore?

They do nothing but make more money. The leadership within the bank is just cr-p.

If you are considering coming to work for WFB.....Stop.....you will be making a grave professional mistake. Save yourself and look elsewhere.

Mgrs only manage UP.

Mgrs don't give a d-mn about managing down.

WF set up this culture and it svcks.

@yxf+1qYtnVYI “ As a manager” that’s part of your job. Glad I don’t work for you anymore!

Everyone here wants to be a manager so they can get paid more for doing less work.

Seriously, most managers at WF are a complete joke. They are not qualified and have no interest in managing resources nor developing people.

The onboarding process of the bank exemplifies all the other processes of the bank. It's amazing how inefficient it is. Do you think a bank full of highly paid and proficient "business execution consultants" (becs) would dedicate one of them to the onboarding process? Or maybe they have.
This bank is full of home-brewed processes blessed by the uncertified, unqualified "becs". Charlie's efficiency plan should include laying off all of these incompetent "becs", and employing an AI model (https://www.accenture.com/us-en/insights/banking/top-10-trends-banking-2024).
I wouldn't be surprised if this is already happening.

We have all of our access needs documented on our team site and how to make the necessary requests.

Perhaps you should do the same for your team.

To bad there isn't. You'll get more accurate information here, and faster, and with an "employee first" perspective.

As a manager, I’m also leading/working on projects beyond just being a supervisor. Half of my team was displaced and I work along side everyone else… I work 10-12 hour days. I don’t have time to handle every detail for an employee out on leave. My POV, my employees all make over $100k and they’re smart… therefore my response would be “figure it out, let me know if there’s a problem.”

if only there was a department who could help provide resources to us humans.

so many people want to be spoon fed everything. yes there are some things a manager has to do to bring someone back from leave but after that you should be able to figure it out.

Presuming zone owners actually approve the requests in a timely manner, fixing access after leave if quick and easy. The only hangup is that an employee's status (on leave vs active) is obtained from workday and appears to only be updated once per day, so you do have to wait for that if it hasn't already been done. Otherwise it's easy. Your manager is lazy or doesn't know what they are doing. In their defense Guardian really is a cr-p system and is routinely counterintuitive and unnecessarily complex to make requests in. Why there isn't a "clone another users access" feature, for example, no one can explain.

Sadly your experience has been my norm the last few years. There are very few WF managers who get hands on directly involved in anything WF - whether it’s the actual operating job and output of the team or the admin side.

If those managers don’t have an official admin, they either make/delegate those tasks to someone else on the team (highly paid and as a career “opportunity”) or make the employee do it themselves (“you should know or figure out how to do that”).

When/if you get lucky to have a Manager who does take care of the team, it’s truly like gold and your (should) cherish them.

When I started it took literally 3 months to get a badge. I was stuck using a temp. My manager had no clue how to get me one and didn’t not care. Just kept telling me it’s automated and will be mailed to me. She should have known that day 1 I should log in from home, upload a picture and then the badge is automatically sent to you. Since she made me come in and get a temp badge it stopped a permanent one from being sent. Had to get that figured out on my own after months on the job.

Then when I needed a credit card for travel she couldn’t take 10 seconds to explain to me where to find a MAC code or apply it to my profile in Workday. After the first credit card was lost I had to beg the associate to mail it to my house instead. That boss has since left but she was an awful introduction into WF.

I work for a guy who answers every question with “You should know that”, and spends all day on running his side gig.

But yep, he sure does know how to kiss butt. Luckily, I need nothing from him and manage to forget his existence for long periods.

Minor thing? Just do your fu--ing job. That’s why I’m testing you because you’re not doing anything! managers need to get back up to do their job because this ain’t right!

You get paid so much more money than me so step up!

It's not a great welcome back, and it seems like dysfunction even if there are individual reasons which compound to create a clusterfu-k. Just do a Loudspeaker (even if it's already been done, which it probably has). This is a (comparably) minor thing.

there is a whole procedure managers have to follow to retirement someone from leave. as for access, that can take weeks, even with the best manager. good luck.

I report to an executive who is clueless and lazy, but nevertheless pretty good at kissing the right butts. To add icing to the cake he is untrustworthy and insecure too.
