It was all I could do NOT to submit a question regarding why AT&T is getting even more nestled in the bed with Ericsson - seeing how they are one of the “bad actors” that was mentioned in a “live” Code of Business Conduct class I attended this summer. Does senior leadership still expect all of us to adhere to the code - when they don’t?

You are correct, the greedy and unethical have no rules. They buy political favor so laws are made in their favor for the pursuit of filthy lucre and power. Who or how they step on and over to reach the pinnacle has no bounds. The end result is two classes, Robber Barons (elite minority ) and everyone else who will be indentured to them.

You are forgetting that AT&T subsidized the iPhone for the first 5 years of our exclusivity deal with Apple. Apple sold units to us at $650, we sold on 2 year contract for $199. We charged $30 month for 3G data, but we had to give a percentage of that to Apple. Why is Apple so strong? Because AT&T makes its vendors wealthy, despite our own balance sheet undermining. Rules are for little people. It’s a form of control to create barriers to entry to the upper echelons. Once you realize the people at the top didn’t get there by being nice, honest or following the rules you’ll be on your way. They skirt those grey areas as it’s not always black and white. Graft is huge! The big wigs make deals that benefit a particular Vendor. Then after they retire, SURPRISE! The same leader gets a cushy job, or board of directors position at same company. It happens a lot here.

Fun fact. I used to see some Beck employees at the entrance of my Central office and I would see the same Employee when I left for the day in the same spot. There is so much graft in this company.
The company complains about wages for techs, how about auditing these vendors?
Find out who hires these vendors and find out who gets kickbacks.
There are many, many Millions of dollars in play.
The rules are for the "little" people. C-Suite is immune to such laws and the COBC.
