Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate culture is toxic and poisonous

The culture of Allstate is so toxic and poisonous due to the trail of egomaniac and co--y cretins that have held leadership and management roles in this company. So many years of senior and mid level leaders so far out of their league that it has ruined the very base of this company. The mid level and front line leaders in place now have been so ruined and brainwashed into thinking that this is actually a normal way a company is ran that they push and peddle the same repeated issues and problems. There are a few that know this company is a complete disaster but they toe the line just to keep their unwarranted and overinflated six figure paychecks. Anyone who actually takes pride in their jobs at Allstate would not make it in almost any other corporation. I would myself would be a fool to leave this company as I have enough time in for a nice big severance and these fools pay me a decent level salary to simply not care and give half effort and they take what I give them. And my approach is a result of the very toxic environment that they create.

@2bqe+1pYzjwb7 makes an excellent point.

If it's so toxic why are you all sticking around and whining? Move on already if you don't like it there.

The culture is disgusting, at least from a claim standpoint. The leaders are pathetic and fake. They must just believe most employees are very d-mb by the way we’re spoken to. They say the right things but it comes across as an SNL skit. The employees see right through everything. It’s very confounding trying to figure out how claims has certain leaders in place. It’s pretty obvious there’s a big brown nosing or family problem in place. Too many very underqualified leaders.

They have a disdain for their employees. Look no further than their “HR policies”. One policy says that they will terminate you if you leave for a competitor. So, instead of allowing an employee to gracefully give two weeks notice, they boot you. This is destructive is many respects. In our unit, the person quitting had a pending of over 200 injury files. As opposed to letting the person categorize the files, settle what can be settled, the company chooses to have 200 files go unattended and then have the people remaining deal with the disorganized state of the adjuster’s desk. For what? It makes the entire company look clueless and insensitive. But again, that is just one of many examples of the poor leadership and policies now in place. Everybody is left with a bad taste in their mouth when they treat people like this.

The OP hit some nails on the head. When I left for greener pastures a few years ago I soon found out that the majority of Allstate employees would never survive at other carriers. It’s all a trickle down from the poor leadership that’s been in place for many years. The three front line leaders at Allstate that I had all seemed in over their heads with both the leadership and technical aspects of their respective jobs. It made me wonder how they ever got promoted. Their leaders were just as poor. If you put poor leaders in place year after year who can’t spot talent, that problem only exacerbates over time and that’s the spot they’re in now. Front line employees aren’t being trained properly and the cycle just continues.

Allstate is a wonderful place to work. Mr. Wilson is a wonderful and successful leader. Please don’t believe fake news from these accounts.

You know why it's toxic? Because of people like you

Identifying a problem but doing nothing about it because you want a paycheck or severance.

You are the exact same as the leaders you mention
