Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Best friend at work

Notice how survey doesn't include morale-related questions anymore? It's because all your friends are beIng LAID OFF.

Five best colleagues let go in the past 3 weeks. And, yes, I know no one cares, because it's all part of the soul-crushing attrition strategy.

You know what they say. Today's friend can be tomorrow's enemy. It's a dog-eat-dog world baby!

When I answered no to the best friend question my boss set out to find me one. long story short, it didn't work. The premise was that if you didn't have someone with whom you could do the serious chit chat, you would leave and that was expensive for the company. Now, they would rather you not have anyone close to you and would like to see you leave and lighten their salary load.

I do have a best friend at work, but that alone doesn’t make me engaged. Far from it, I’ve never been more disengaged and unhappy.

Already done moving up the ladder as far as I can tolerate. I'm just here to work and get things done. The issue is that Hudson Yards is much more interested in other things that have nothing to do with work and they constantly throw up road blocks.

We are not here to make friends, we are here to do the work and move up the corporate ladder.

Current WF culture check question: Do you have at least one colleague who will take you out in a nanosecond and throw you under the bus to get ahead at WF?

They now don’t want you to develop a BF as that person will be axed along with you

I used to have plenty of best friends at work and yes, by now they all quit or got canned.

The key here isn't that your "best friend at work" is laid off, it's that anyone you might want to build a working relationship with is going to be laid off tomorrow so all this alleged "collaboration around the water cooler" BS moves firmly into the "what's the point? / Why bother?" category.

I’m so sorry…I feel your pain as a lot of people who I have known for years have been displaced in the last 3 rounds of turmoil Tuesday. The surveys are just a joke at this point…hold your head up and even though this is all happening, near or far we are in this together (even if just anonymous).

I think Wells should institute mandatory time with different teammates everyday where we play in a sandbox like we did as toddlers. We are a team and one Wells Fartgo afterall.

That's because these executives and managers mentally never grew up since high school.

It was always a BS question.

No one at work is your friend. Harsh? Yes. Reality? Again, yes.

It was a silly concept in the first place. Right up there with “my WF family.” Work is work.

Gallup has been gone for years.

It was always a bad question even if some could check the box. Labeling friendships in that way is grade school level stuff and embarrassing when used by a corporation to project an image of having a great workplace full of warmth and fuzzies.

No one cares about fuzzies, we want jobs where our performance is accurately tracked for promotions, increased pay, etc.

We can all be best friends when the incentives are real.

It would be a relief at this point! I know layoffs are coming to my area in February, maybe this time….

@nfi Nah...I don't even care to wait for the severance package anymore. Now, I will just wait to collect my bonus in February, and I will be gone soon after that. If I get laid off before that, awesome...but I'm too fed up to stay here much longer. Definitely can't make it another year here.
