Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Transformation

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Why does the company continue to let Gloria lead enterprise "transformation" initiatives? Has a single effort actually panned out in the grand scheme of things. She's been sponsoring or leading transformation for years. Wave. One Anthem. Digitization. Whatever we're doing poorly now. She hires ungodly expensive consultants who butcher the company every time and are already gone by the time all these initiatives don't make the money people say. And so what do we do? Do we evaluate the people at the top running this clown show? Nope. We make the people who tried in vain to point out how flawed all the initiatives are the bad guys. Ask how many millions, if not billions, of dollars Gloria has personally overseen the misuse of usually enabled by tech, aka her shill Anil, who like her, only grows in power every year, despite being universally, and internationally, despised as a leader. Ask where the return is. If there had been actual trackable returns, we wouldn't need to offshore. But sure, let's continue to let them drive the bus right off the cliff. I mean ffs, has anyone ever questioned how in touch ELT is with the actual goings on instead of the spin doctor powerpoints. There are all manner of exec dashboards and reports but they need the snippets in decks so someone with no conscience can customize a false narrative about what the actual data means.

She is a disgusting excuse for a human and we can only hope her fascination for the now near completely India influence of staff, both workers and management in the company implodes on her. Surely they will turn and feast on her dead carcass.

I've worked in global tech for 25 years with limited time here and have never seen anything like this waste. No real strategy or successful execution (always question what is in an IT deck no matter how old the deck is because the plans may have never been funded or delivered). Instead, a lot of self-congratulatory behavior on town halls, tech leaders self-promoting on LinkedIn for their next role versus engaging their teams in anything more than swirl, and way too many consultants brought in to lead the work since some leaders must outsource their jobs to function competently given that they have no recognizable tech experience in the real world. Internal users fail to fully adopt the proprietary tech, resulting in bad data quality and disconnected experiences. It won't get any easier for them once lifetime digital natives enter the workforce with high expectations and zero tolerance for poor experience. AI and offshore can't solve for what is wrong here.

Is she though? Everyone is still kowtowing to her like she can still stone them to death in times square. I don't think she wants to leave. How else could she single-handedly evoke fear into thousands of people on a daily basis. I don't think they're hiring for any superhero villains at the moment.

Execs have people checking this site constantly and occasionally commenting but their comments all scream corp monkey. Not sure about board of directors. I can't imagine that they care about associates any more than ELT. People in power want to stay in power. They close ranks and look out for each other before anyone else. The ones who may still have a bit of care for their fellow man don't last.

Great question & insight.
We should collectively ask Elizabeth E. Tallett about that....she's the Chair of the Elevance Health Board of Directors. Do the Board of Directors really know how employees feel about things? They exist to be the "checks and balances" of a company right?
