This article could be talking about my department. Same behaviors directed to the over 50 crowd. They’re all eventually picked off. It’s RAMPANT. I’ve seen it over and over and over in my far too long time working at this toxic company.

What’s hilarious is it’s not like the execs are exactly young-ins, but I feel like that makes it’s obvious it’s all about short term financial gain, unfortunately. Although standard business ethics note to follow a ‘last in, first out’ timeline when laying off workforce, seems they do the opposite, ‘first in, first out’ and who cares about experience (or lack thereof) of those coming after to fill now open roles. It’s all just disgraceful and I’m at least glad to see something out there trying to expose their employee abuses.

They should start class A lawsuit. If they came down to Minnesota Minneapolis location, you would see the majority of the management. who get promoted are basically the ages of 18 to 26 years of age. How much is experience does somebody at this age have to run a company.

No schooling and no experience needed. I can see why my division is always in the red.

They basically forced all the old people out. With PIP, RIF, layoffs, and making a life so miserable for the older people they quit. When you walked on our hallways, you feel like in high school.

If a class A lawsuit is filed, signed me up.

I too use Honeywell shirts as painting clothing and rags- and refuse to buy a Honeywell product. I once bought a Honeywell thermostat for my house through the company store (!!!) installed it. I did not work. Returning it was a nightmare process. I also advise others to steer clear of the Honeywell brand because it’s garbage- I see the corner cutting in the development and manufacturing firsthand.

I was hired at age 59 and was terminated at age 65 due to a policy violation, although my manager and HR refused to tell me what policy I violated. I never had a PIP and had all positive mid-year and annual reviews. Although I was very upset and angry at the time, I am now happily enjoying retirement and will never look back (nor will I ever buy a HW product). I use the HW t-shirts I was given over the years to paint and do outside work but wear them inside out. They also make excellent rags.

I retired at 55 after years of policy and benefit changes that were obviously aimed at driving away older workers. Glad I did, as the teams I worked with have all been shut down or consolidated into orgs based in “emerging markets.”

Interesting that he was hired at age 55 in 2020 and in the end terminated without "benefit" of a PIP.

I remember my long time Reliability Manager (stationed in Clearwater) lead our Glendale Az. He had superior technical knowledge but the story given that upper management wanted "People Managers" who know nothing. Back in 2019 they started this thing called "Burning Platform" . My manager had to justify his existence in a slide presentation. What they really finally did ( and I say they planned it all along) was let him go and put our group under Puerto Rico control. Imagine that , having a manager making less money than workers underneath. The one person that remained (I let go, another quit, and another fired(for refusing to changing his yr goals by PR control) ) in our 4 person group was forced to offshore work to PR.

I was indirectly told to accept a pay decrease during a business transition which triggered a salary renegotiation. It was inferred that if I declined the decrease a younger employee that I was training would replace me. I stood my ground and maintained my salary, alas I was RIF'd in the following round.

I hear the team has gone to the dogs since my departure....what a surprise!
It is all about short term cost cutting here regardless of long term financial impact, that one 'saving' of 30-40k a year probably cost them minimum 1mill in real world terms as profit delivery was absolutely delayed if not lost by my departure. Just plain insanity!
I since discovered the director was being pressured to reduce salary overheads and already had his budgets smashed, he is a greedy snake so would have done anything to protect his own interest regardless of the consequences.

However...... being kicked out has been one heck of a blessing from above, I was oblivious to my Stockholm syndrome and how detrimental Honeywell had become to my life. I am now earning significantly more and finally get to spend time with my kids now, my wife is over the moon! I am really happy this guy is going for them, about time, but his has won already by escaping that 5hit pit.

I’m 53 and being set up to be removed right now. They don’t even really try to hide it. Hopefully it’s a RIF for me soon. It’ll be like Christmas morning. I could definitely use some time to catch my breath and find a way to manage the PTSD I’m developing from the constant 24/7 stress I feel related to this job.

HW let me go when they thought they could replace a veteran cad designer with 2 virgin engineers. I wonder how that worked out? Still miss the job but I did appreciate when they gave me severance when I was 67 years old.

It's an obvious HR strategy to remove older higher paid employees and replace them with younger cheaper employees. HW doesn't seem to appreciate the value of age and experience. They are steadily draining the business of it's know how for relatively short term gains. My RIF was a total joke - totally made up BS. They have lost so much know how and experience from the group I was in they can barely develop new products.

They definitely do not value employees here. They view them as a liability and a $ drain. Even the under 50’s. Unless you’re a c-suit? You’re a liability. The c-suits are extremely abusive. Lots of wannabe lower management toadies mimic the abusive management style of the c-suits hoping to get promoted and it seems to work. They do move up pretty quickly. The more abusive and nasty they are the faster they move up the ladder. So unbelievably toxic here. Pretty wild that a former HR director is now suing the company… just wow. Guess HR isn’t much interested in protecting the company from its employees (who are widely mistreated) they’re just as bad as the c-suits and the toadies, judging by this article anyway.

Rotten to the core does not even scratch the surface. HW has been targeting older FTE's for decades. Lost a few lawsuits in the 90's and now have honed those ageism targeting skills to a fine surgical craft.

HW will always say. You don't like here? Leave!
