Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

A horrible Experience at Honeywell

Working at Honeywell was a terrible experience for me. First off, they don’t seem to care about their employees at all. It feels like they ignore us, and there’s no real support for our well-being. I have had a handful of colleagues in the past few years coming to me saying they are suffering from anxiety or some depression due to the messed up culture here.

Also, I saw a lot of unfair treatment happening all the time. It’s not just a few isolated cases – it’s like it’s baked into the company’s way of doing things. This leads to some people getting way more chances and recognition than others, which is super unfair and really brings you down.

The whole vibe at work is just toxic. It’s full of negativity and it’s rare to see people actually working together in a good way. This makes it super hard to stay motivated and excited about your job.

Even though Honeywell talks big about being innovative and creative, it’s the total opposite. Anytime someone tries to bring something new to the table, others just jump in to take the credit. This ki-ls any real creativity and makes it more about competing with each other than working together.

And don't get me started on the leadership. Most of the higher-ups don’t really act like leaders. They're more like bosses who don’t get what leadership is really about. They lack vision and empathy, and they can't inspire anyone. This trickles down and ends up making everyone feel uninterested and not committed.

My time at Honeywell was just a bunch of disappointing experiences that really show how much the company needs to change its culture and the way it's led.

@1Pxeu+1pXMYcBg Haha our director has mastered that art! Always making out he is overworked, stressed and doing the best for us when in reality we all know that he does sweet FA getting us to do most of his work for him. Hasn't realized we can so see past his European accent for the toad he really is, but like you say its all a faking game here. He is sneaky but not too bright, for survival we scam him too......just a constant circle of deceipt.

Yes. It is easy to see the ESL. Soon though, they'll start using AI and just have those folks posting from there. I expect o whole load of fake positive reviews that are well written. The future of AI is all fake news and reviews. We will never be able to trust anything in the future.

My first 2 years were great, awesome team, interesting work, respected by peers and leadership, healthy budget so that I could deliver my best work....... then it all flipped on it's head.
No budget, leadership changes every 5 minutes, all the talent leaving at break neck speed and replaced with a rotating door of talent less idi0ts and the company turning into a nasty cesspit. Everything turned to 5hit from 2018/19 onwards. I am just here now to put dollars on the table for my family, all my passion is gone. The only thing I have learnt in the last few years is how to put up a fake front and pretend to work hard without actually doing it.....seemingly quite easy here but soul destroying at the same time.

I’ve been reading some stuff about the HCE Forge Insights team and their big shots - the VP and this Mr. IZ or JZ, and I gotta say, it’s about time I put in my two cents.

These guys are the poster children for what’s going wrong in our company. They strut around like they’re the saviors of our business, but man, they can’t even put together a business case that makes a dime. We’re talking about hiring an army of data scientists - seriously, a ton of them - and for what? Not a single product to show for it that’s worth anything to our customers. So they ended up laying off half of them!

It’s like they’re playing musical chairs with platform providers, switching up every couple of years, signing new deals, and then doing a song and dance to make it look like they’re doing something big. And the way they deal with anyone who doesn’t toe the line? It’s cold, man. I’ve seen four good guys, real professionals, get the boot just because they spoke up.

This isn’t just bad; it’s a whole other level of toxic. I mean, why would anyone with options stick around in this kind of mess?

Impressed by offering EAP? Every company offers that. Probably the most unused, least valuable benefit ever offered.

I was initially impressed that the company offered generous mental health support through the EAP, aka lots of free therapy sessions. It’s five free sessions per topic, but as long as you come up with new topics, the sessions are unlimited.

Turns out everyone who works there will need it because the culture is so abusive and jacked up.

Someone let slip on here that Honeywell employed a third party in south Asia for Glassdoor reviews, apparently common practice.

The saddest thing is when an “SBU” market is going very well corporate raids their funds to bailout the mismanaged units. When employees see 15-20% organic growth in the products/systems they brought to market and support but get a 3% merit raise it is flat out insulting.

The fake reviews on Glassdoor speak volumes -

For the life of me I can not work out what is going on at Honeywell, EVERY single business unit is being sabotaged in SPS/IA. The best reason I have been given is that they are trying to sell off a huge chunk of Honeywell to focus on a smaller set of businesses hence the huge retractions of budget, no investment and turfing out of highly skilled/qualified/experienced personnel. That at least makes some sense.

I worked in management at HW for just over 15 years. The first few years were ok since Honeywell were largely hands off. Unfortunately once HW decided to get more involved it was largely a downward spiral. From DA onwards the culture changed significantly, by the time I left the original department had been reduced in size by two thirds. Most of the technical capabilities had been lost since the most experienced staff largely left or were RIF’d (what company gets rid of its most capable talent?). Very little money was invested and budgets cut to next to nothing. Projects were difficult to run due to lack of heads and equipment and unwillingness to fund. High turn over of staff business at all levels meant there was little or no in depth knowledge of customer requirements. Consequently competitors have taken increasing amounts of the business. An increasing burden and responsibility was placed on managers to address issues created by HW for example staff turnover when the benefits for employees have been cut to the bare minimum or below inflation salary increases for multiple years. In addition those who remain were expected to take on work of those who left, often of a much lower level. I for one was glad to get out, it was a truly awful experience the last few years.

@fyr+1pXMYcBg It could be one of JWs overpaid sycophants. I can think of a few who won’t get jobs making 500k outside of Honeywell. If he gets pushed out, they go too and have to sell their new Range Rover defender and play less golf.

Is this the forge insight’s IZ? Dude, I always wonder why he is so young!

How many data platforms have they changed so far? It feels like they change it every year so that they have reasons to work! The VP loves to play Lego games with no genuine product! It's just a talking game with no tangible result because everybody in HCE knows the C-suite changes sooner than they question why this team is a cash burner! All it takes is some confident speech peppered with tech jargon, and the game goes on and on!
They are just milking the cow! Best con man in town!

The management I deal with are most definitely BS artists. The BS they spew is mind blowing. In their minds if they say it, it is so. Doesn’t matter if what they say is based in reality or not. I’m convinced they think it’s just going to magically happen the way they say. Most of them don’t know anything at all about the business they’re managing either.

Whoever said a bunch of con artists nailed it! Mr. IZ at HCE got to the senior director position from an internship in 7 years and then fired or forced to move anyone who knew the story!
HON is the best place for con artists

@1uvm+1pXMYcBg

That’s a sensitive topic. I hate generalizations because it groups the good with bad unfortunately but yeah I think the over hiring of people from a specific region of the world where the culture has some interesting traits like being a yes man to your superiors, where common sense is some times thrown out in order to “prove yourself”.

This has eroded the western personality of a company like Honeywell.

The culture here is the most abusive and toxic I have ever seen- hands down- THE WORST. Management is awful. It’s gotten progressively worse over the years. The last few years it’s become just a total s-show. The culture and management is 100% responsible for rank and file failures- here at Honeywell you are set up to fail on the regular. Customers aren’t happy. Employees aren’t happy. The only happy people seem to be the ones either inflicting or enabling the widespread abuse. Lots of egos in management that seem to really enjoy being the biggest a-hole they can possibly be. I cannot WAIT to leave this s-show.

If you have an offer? RUN. They try to entice you with a senior title- even if you’ve got zero prior work experience. They do this because they can’t attract real talent anymore.

It’s been bad since I joined but I think between many people leaving and positions not being back filled and the ever growing do more with less for those remaining, morale is at an all time low.

I wish someone would just come and straighten everything out, it’s not that difficult. Fix people problem by treating them well, get rid of a-holes, truly try to innovate not just sell the “emperor’s new clothes” concept.

But I’m afraid we’re to far removed from the point of no return. I hope I’m wrong about that.

Yep, had the same experience. My first year was truly shocking, the most unprofessional and broken company I have ever experienced in 20+ years of corporate engineering practice.
It blows my mind away how Honeywell is still in business.
F@ck the 401K vesting period and pathetic variable MIP. I was out of there faster than a bullet, a disgusting, dirty tarnish on my otherwise very proud career.
