Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Exclusive: A third Wells Fargo branch plans to vote on unionizing

Why it matters: It's the third Wells Fargo branch to move toward union elections — a sign that organizing efforts are gaining steam within the bank, the fourth largest in the country.
  • Wells is the only big bank in the U.S. facing serious unionization efforts, as the industry remains relatively untouched by organizing.

I’m not a pro-union cheerleader, not a branch employee and there is no real union potential for my job, but I completely understand why branch employees would run toward a union.

They deserve better pay.

Good! Keep them coming, branches!

This type of effort needs to originate with the branches, maybe call centers, before rolling out to the rest of non-managerial positions here. (Yep, that includes senior analyst type roles.)

Don't worry, those of you that want to stay loyal to your older, underachieving brother Mitch who hated unions for reasons never articulated. If you live in a right-to-work state, you don't have to opt in. Everyone wins.
