PIPs and Firings in Full Swing

I found out today 3 people who were basically strangers had been put on coaching plans and PIPs. We shared information in an office and thats how i found out. I was also targeted and fought and screamed like a mad dog.

We work for different divisions in various roles so this is an enterprise harassment program initiated, endorsed, and executed by Human Resources. Even HR staff are stack ranked. Absurd.

Capone should be shutdown.

I found out yesterday several people I worked with in tech were fired in December or earlier. VP levels and down. Nobody is safe.

If you are going down on the ship anyway, start a #Union.

To the last poster I'm in california and myself and coworkers haven't been reimbursed for years. This doesn't mean we aren't owed the money because we didn't know we could get reimbursed. It means capital one has to go through their entire payroll system and determine who wasn't reimbursed based on their locations and immediately and retroactively pay them or get sued and fined. Employees not knowing the law or internal procedure for getting reimbursement don't forfeit anything period. Its the f# law.

What are you talking about? 1) C1 reimburses remote work cost if it's required by your locality you just have to submit an expense report. 2) Good luck with the negotiations but read your contract first. I highly doubt they will negotiate anything with you.

The post below is fabulous. If an employee in any of those places speaks to a lawyer about being reimbursed for remote costs it'll create a legal nightmare for them. Fabulous.

If you are placed on a PIP to be fired. Then look at the list of states and cities below in which C! has to pay for remote working costs such as Internet, phone bills etc.
They are required by law to pay those costs so if you lived in one of the places below and never got reimbursed for remote costs, then when they place you on a PIP you demand they pay you for your past remote costs. This isn't something any company wants to mess with it means a class action lawsuit if it's not done properly and will cost them millions of dollars in lawyer fees and reimbursement.

States and Cities Requiring Employer Reimbursement for Remote Work Expenses:
States:

California (Labor Code Section 2802)
District of Columbia (Wage Payment and Collection Law)
Illinois (Wage Payment and Collection Act)
Iowa (Administrative Code)
Massachusetts (Wage Payment Act)
Minnesota (Wage Theft Prevention Act)
Montana (State Law)
New Hampshire (State Law)
New York (Labor Law Section 196-d)
North Dakota (State Law)
Pennsylvania (State Law)
South Dakota (State Law)

Cities:

Seattle, Washington ("Payment of Wages" ordinance)
Please note: This list is current as of December 7, 2023. Laws and regulations may change, so it's always recommended to consult with an employment attorney for the latest information.

Never sign a PIP. You send an email telling them they are lying and it's because of your age, race, gender, s-xual orientation, caste, religion, or dsability or that you were a military veteran. You accuse them of wrongful termination and discrimination and demand a higher severance. It the offer you 2 months demand 6 months severance plus 6 months cobra. You tell then your attorney wants to sue because because you live in a state where the company has to pay for your remote costs such as internet, and phone. A class action lawsuit is the last thing they need right now for not paying remote working costs prior, during, and after covid.

Get a higher severance and leave this h#ll hole behind.

Why not just be honest and say they are struggling financially and have grossly overhired and need to LAY PEOPLE OFF. Instead, they have turned this into a mass underperformance event and are spinning it like these people are not doing their job. I have to be honest, the people who have really failed this company are the senior leaders who failed to manage headcount, who failed to manage their people, who have made blatant mistakes at every step. This company is run by people who got to where they are by kissing a$$ and playing politics. They are NOT good at the job.

The firings are no exaggerations everyone from individual contributor all the way up to are being put on PIPs to be fired.

I'm in tech org and in the last year have seen multiple Senior Directors fired and a few months ago a Managing Vice President was fired. NO ONE IS IMMUNE TO THE STACK RANKINGS, HARASSMENT, AND FIRINGS. Every division, work function, at all levels are being fired left and right. Don't work too hard and be careful of everything and everyone around no. NOBODY IS SAFE.

Listen to @1ooc+1pVxlhw2 from the last post. You have nothing to lose so you accuse them of wrong doing and negotiate a higher severance because of their discrimination and harassment.

It's true they are filing PIPs like mad. You demand and negotiate a severance whatever they tell you, you ask for more $ and Cobra coverage. You accuse them of discrimination based on your age, race, gender, disability, s-xual orientation, and you tell them you're a protected class and you're being targeted for harassment and wrongful termination.

They are forcing employees to sign PIPs on the phone without the employee having the time to respond.
