How true is this?

Indians are ruining Wells Fargo anyway. Would rather not work with most of them and that has nothing to do with race.

There is absolutely no reason to be in the office. Everyone gets hotel cubes. This will put more cars on the road and take more time away from family. It accomplishes nothing except bad moral. Productivity will suffer greatly. Great talent is and will go elsewhere.

In my LOB there are a lot of managers and critical personnel located in random cities. Some even being promoted or hired on within the past couple of years. I think this will make the location strategy an unmitigated disaster.

I used to feel like the broad geographic footprint of Wells Fargo was an advantage when it comes to sourcing talent, etc. but HY seems focused on destroying it. For what?

there is a location strategy that is in motion and will be concluded by end of 2025. There are a specific set of domestic markets that have been identified as go-forward, plus I&P.

Each LOB can decide which subset they wish to operate in, but can't add others.

Anyone not in one of the go-forward markets selected by their LOB will be displaced (remote or non-remote). Some LOBs will offer relocation to a go-forward market, some will not.

Remote work will only continue to be permitted for people who have an approved medical accommodation AND are within 40 miles of a go-forward location for their LOB,

@zjr+1pRe4WBW Nothing illegal about it. As previously mentioned, all that has to be made is an accommodation. A quiet space, a cube, etc. As a Vet myself PTSD is a horseshyte excuse for not going to work. Does this person also not go to the grocery store, out to eat, etc? Wells offices aren’t exactly any kind of high stress environments, it’s an office. If it is too stressful they need a position more in line with their handicap for their own well being.

@1mdj+1pRe4WBW 3 examples out of a company of 230k who are deemed as HCE’s by you? Not exactly a smoking g-n with your point there. There has always and will always be exceptions to every rule every where. There is a “No Idjit” clause but look, they hired you didn’t they?

I know of at least 3 highly compensated people who were hired in the last year or so that are fully remote. Rule only seems to apply to us worker bees.

Just a tad dramatic. There will be plenty of jobs still in the states. Plus they don't want to pay the salaries for NYC.

No, they don't want to hire in another city, unless you mean Hyderabad or NYC. Everything else goes. "Hubs" are, let's just say, a temporary arrangement until the music stops. You're not safe in Charlotte. You're not even safe in Dallas and it isn't even open yet. They will all be shut down.

Back in 2018, workplace strategy had a vision and remote workers were targeted for phase 1 layoffs in early 2020. The pandemic hit and rolled back those plans for the time being.

Management then changed hands all over and modified the workplace strategy (changing hub some locations around) to their liking. Even so, remote work was always on the chopping block. No one is getting hired newly for remote jobs.

After the pandemic settled down, we were caught off guard as the new phase 1 layoffs targeted office workers in non-hub locations while many remote workers were allowed to remain as is.

And here we sit today, whether hub or remote, sitting ducks unsure of when something may happen. It is dragging out waaaaay too long, even with all the complexities of the outside world issues.

Workplace Strategy is the definition of how WF operates.

If you are remote, ride it out or quit.

I have a medical exception and spoke to the Accommodations team and my manager. For my particular situation there isn't (yet) a way they can accommodate my condition in the office so for now I am approved for full time remote. Once they get the open seating, etc. figured out (what a sh*tshow from what I hear) I fully expect that to change. If I have to go in 3-4 days to keep my job, that's what I will do. If they lay me off, I will consider it a blessing in disguise and figure out what's next.

@tgc
"They did not renew my medical accommodation in November and I have PTSD from my service in Iraq. Fully documented by my doctor and the VA."

This is illegal unless you cannot perform your duties remotely.

people seem to think that work from home is the only acceptable medical accomodations. If you have a verified medical need the company just needs to accommodate it, that may not mean working from home. I think they did themselves a disfavor by just automatically granting that as an accommodations because of the influx coming out of RTO, but now they are reviewing. And as for all those who make the argument that they shouldn't have to be in the office because their team is elsewhere, the other option is to be given the choice to move to where your team is or be let go.

How is this new as opposed to other posts here. No new job postings allow remote work and exceptions are pretty much impossible. It does sound like they are reviewing those that may have started remote or got remote exceptions and those are the people who will be impacted (it’s more people than most people realize). Medical accommodations are still allowed (they say they continue to re review but I am not sure if that really happens as I know people who haven’t been bothered in years).

I think you fail to see their plan. They want everyone to be in the same city or at least the majority, so they'd rather fire you and hire within another city

They did not renew my medical accommodation in November and I have PTSD from my service in Iraq. Fully documented by my doctor and the VA. Fortunately, there is an office about 15 minutes away, so going in 3 days a week. Letter told me if I did not I would lose my job.

Agree - but medical accommodation remote is handled differently than regular remote. There will always be a need for consideration due to medical reasons. Medical accommodations are re- reviewed routinely and need to meet certain criteria. Similar to short term disability is reviewed on a case by case basis but has a criteria list.

AFAIK I've got at least 2 years of full time remote left. That could change but that was the last timeframe given by my manager.

They've been threatening to cancel my full time remote status since 2016. Others on my team had it removed, only to be granted again.

I find that hard to believe. I'd think if you have an accommodation for medical/disability reasons they'll still allow it. Otherwise I'd think it would open the company to law suits for discrimination. But I'm sure they'll have more scrutiny on them.

The whole thing as asinine. There is zero reason for me to be in the office b/c my whole team is in different cities.

Remote work is not welcomed at WF. Remote workers and the skills they bring are not appreciated or valued by Schart. WF Remote workers are routinely rejected for WF job opportunity interviews. WF remote workers are given less merit, bonus and promotions than non-remote counterparts.

It'll be LOB specific but they are all reviewing the exceptions right now. There is no mass cancellation though

A lucky few may retain company issued laptops, but the rest of us will need to supply their own devices or be back in office 5 days a week. Making Wells Fargo great again. How Trumpian of Charlie.🤦🏻‍♂️

It's easier for management to gaslight, psychologically manipulate, and intimidate employees by looking over their shoulder in the office all day. It's all about control and letting you know they can fu-k with you.
