I watched Novell shoot to the moon in the late eighties as it rode the LAN wave only to live through its futile attempts at finding its way in the aughts. So I have a lot of empathy for all of you VMware folks who are watching VMware's own 'circle of life' end poorly after so many glory days.
But please, either quietly move on to greener pastures or come join Broadcom and help us provide quality infrastructure for our customers.
I was at Symantec during the Broadcom acquisition. It was an extremely trying process to live through but after several years on the other side I and my team continue to work with technology and customers that we're invested in and enjoy. I'm not a fan of the 'private equity' game plan that's playing out globally but working for a growing, well-managed corporation has been good for our incomes, equity and a good work/life balance.
I also think you'll find Hock Tan's leadership refreshing as he's one of the most open and candid CEO's I've ever worked for.
I'm looking forward to working with all of you who make the transition.
