Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mgrs getting incentives to terminate?

Know someone who works on severance pkgs and was told they are worried mgrs who terminate some staff in advance of pending severance already socialized will result in lawsuits. Saw earlier post on this site and wonder if that's what's going on. Curious if team marked for layoff and have mgr getting incentivized to cut costs. Slippery slope legally.

If this was the case there wouldn't be any employees left.

Maybe a senior executive but not manager or director level.

how does being incentivised for reducing expenses which may or may not include layoffs warrant a lawsuit? anyone who is bonus eligible is getting an incentive for something. as long as the layoffs are justified and done with some semblance of fairness then you got nothing.

This is definitely happening.

Win-win for unfair mgr and corrupt WF.

Everything is subjective.

I think the objective is something like "increase efficiency" but this really is another way of saying reduce staff.

senior leaders are accountable for improving the expense ratio which may or may not include layoffs. In many cases to reduce costs at the employee level they will cut/freeze approved requisitions as well as not backfill when people leave. If/when layoffs are decided it is a larger conversation including HR. End of day, rank and file managers at most may be asked to opine on who should go, but would not be accountable for getting rid of people

Managers can’t terminate without HR. HR is ultimately accountable for who is displaced.

This would be HR problem and their slippery slope and not the Manager. Given that and the state of chaos that every WF business is engulfed in, I would not be surprised if these scenarios do actually occur.

No, managers don't get anything for terminating. Could be they have a financial goal to meet and can get rewarded for hitting that.
