All I know is that if I reserve a desk and I get to the office then see you sitting in my desk, I'm going to slap the back of your head SO hard.

This is not true. If you don’t believe me just ask someone’s already shown on one of the org chart's released.

This could be true and all the banks will do it. I base this on something from an even bigger bank . They have to protect the bottom line

Lol, good luck with 5 days. They couldn't get 5 before the scamdemic so it isn't happening now.

@4nsq+1pBy4Jvl What is considered a hub? Does Richmond qualify or is it just Charlotte/Atlanta?

1/2 my dept are listed as tele-commuters so they can come and go as they please... it's blatant favortism IMO, but if you dare mention it you go to the top of the RIF list... Pathetic leadership, but that's how SunTruist EL rolls!

“I would take a slight pay cut to tele-commute if given a choice.“

Same. I’m applying for remote jobs and willing to take lower pay, I don’t share that with the employer of course but will have it in mind when evaluating offers.

Having trouble believing the 5 day RTO rumor while we have this many telecommuters within what was previously considered a reasonable commuting distance. It’s like 30% of my division. Pretty sure they’d make some of the people who WFH 100% come in a couple times a week before they’d worry about the rest of us being remote 2 days.

+No bonus for eligible teammates.

“so I’m assuming you are onboard with reimbursing telecommuters for internet and cell phone, since that is a savings on expenses. And what about real estate?”

From the company’s perspective, pay is not based on cost savings, so this question is irrelevant. there’s no fairness to it, just the least they have to pay to get a person in the job. I would 100% not be surprised if they change compensation approach for remote teammates. Not much harder to imagine than the 5 day RTO really

Re: Telecommuters verses in-office debate: In my LOB 50% of teammates live less than 50 miles from an office and still get to WFH while others have to RTO! I have no issue with telecommuting in general. It's only when it's not applied equally that I have an issue. Am I bitter? Yes, because I am among the unlucky 50%. I wasn't given a choice and I work much better at home - Less stress, no office politics and I'm way more productive. I'm paying for home internet either way so that point is moot! ALSO, For the record my NEW EL is a tele-commuter! How that's for fairness? Go ahead, hit the down arrow! Cheers!

hey “will telecommuters” clown….so I’m assuming you are onboard with reimbursing telecommuters for internet and cell phone, since that is a savings on expenses. And what about real estate?

Your critical thinking skills are severely lacking. Like the other poster said, get ready for your surprise “Catch up meeting” the second week of Jan.

“Will telecommuters …” what a clown take. With all the “restructuring” that is your question? Be on the lookout for your “quick catch up” meeting in January.

To the previous poster - You are assuming salaries are based on your role/location? ... That's funny! In my LOB salary is based on cronyism, nepotism and favortism all rolled into one.

Will telecommuters pay be reset based on the lowest (community) salary range? Why are people who work from home in the same range as people commuting in and paying for parking, etc? Im surprised they haven’t announced adjustments for this yet. Easy way to cut costs and align pay back with true cost of labor (people will take less pay for remote work).

Hate to break the news, but teammates can watch Netflix on their phones, in the office, in their cube. I've seen it!

I hate to feed a troll, but I won’t go in 5 days a week. I will rally my team to not go in at all. There is safety in numbers.

Also, it most definitely wasn’t common for good jobs to make people go in 5 days a week pre covid.

Op is probably a troll but it’s not impossible. They don’t care (to the extent they’d remain flexible) about your complaints re: commute, parking, childcare, or that we’re less productive in office. Most (all?) arguments for WFH fall on deaf ears.

It boils down to:

  • Real estate utilization and tax considerations.
  • 5 days in office is a common requirement, especially pre pandemic. If you’re not cool with it, you’re welcome to quit, and someone else willing to work 5 in office will take your place.
  • Enterprise herd mentality. If other large household name companies drop the hammer on RTO, it’s perceived as weak to not follow suit at Truist. As evidenced by 401k nerf, alignment with their peers is very important apparently (jk you know it wasn’t about alignment right?). If they can say giant well respected companies A, B and C have done it, clearly it’s not unreasonable for us to do it and it must be a good idea if they decided to do it.
  • Tradition. “It’s how we spent most of our careers”. Work is done in an office! That’s how it’s always been.
  • Lack of trust. If I cant see them, how do I know they’re not watching Netflix. This may be paranoia on a management level, but may also be an indicator of lack of clear metrics and tangible ways to measure output volume and quality.

So yeah, full RTO wouldn’t shock me.

I agree... Teammates should get a choice. Some love being in the office to get away from their home/family/pets & so on and don't mind the commute - others enjoy being WFH where they are more productive and maybe less stressed. I would like to it put on a vote on the next survey - What do you think? Suggested questions: 1: You are happier working in the office. 2: You are more productive working remotely. 💡
