4 day RTO Effective Immediately

After hearing rumors of 4 Day RTO for several weeks and being told last week that it wouldn't start until January, yesterday we were informed in a staff meeting the 4 days in office would begin immediately. Whatever happened to being transparent with employees when they ask what the plans are? Why would you not give employees time to make childcare arrangements? I just don't understand the meanness and lack of consideration from management. I just so tired of The Fargo and the disrespect!

Wahhh wahhhh wahhh. You sound like some of the kooks I work with. If the situation is not to someone’s liking why don’t you simply make it like able? Whether you work the system or have to leave. Sitting around beyotching will eat you up like a cancer.

So we’re still fighting the mommy and daddy wars? Here’s one reason things might be difficult. Your daycare is 5 minutes from home so you get off work at 4 and can pick up your kids at 4:05. If you are in the office that might be 45 minutes away now your pick up is closer to 5pm. Day care and after school programs need to know that in advance. Also, and I know this is hard for some people to get, but perhaps you take your lunch hour from 3 to 3:30 to run to school and pick up your kids. Then you continue working from home until 5 or 6. You are not “babysitting “ you are giving a ride to children who can’t drive yet. With RTO that plan is basically shot.

Really? A parent is a parent all the time? Thanks for clarifying. If a spouse is at home, sure, then sounds like a kid staying wouldn't be a problem. However, that would work if you're in the office or not. And using the mailman and packages as an excuse? Good lord.

Keep digging for those excuses. Any way you slice it, your children should have care arrangements five days a week. Obviously things come up from time to time. Your arrangement should never be, I need to stay home to watch my kids and work at the same time all the time.

In my opinion, most of staff employees can work from home, but all executives need to be in the office 5 days a week so that they can attend important meetings face to face.

WF treats us like cr-p, so they don't deserve loyalty from us. That's why many people are quiet quitting and just collecting paychecks, which is totally justified in my book. My family, relatives, friends and neighbors all despise this corrupt bank. Almost all American customers hate WF. As for me, I quiet quit a long time ago, but I am not leaving until I get my severance. Honestly, I really don't care whatever happens to this bank, I hope it will go down and disappear. Wells Fargo executives = sc-ms of the earth.

Stop being a jerk to the poster. A parent is parenting all the time, whether the kid needs supervision (daycare) or not is different story.

Guess what? Spouses are some times at home at the same time as one works remotely and mailmen come to the door to deliver packages and co-workers stop at your desk in the office during the day to chat. Stop being dramatic!

Every executive in the C suite deserves to be hung for treason. They are shipping American jobs offshore to the lowest bidder all because they are too incompetent to get us out from under the asset cap which is what they were hired to do in the first place. RTO is just another attempt to tank morale and make those of us still around miserable. It’s an attrition play pure and simple.

Those of us that were HIRED 100% remote have had to completely change our world because of the post covid EVERYONE goes to the office no matter what 3 days a week. Arrangements were made for those 3 days - and no I'm not babysitting my kids, I PARENT my kids. Now those folks have to make arrangements for a 4th day - additional driving, pick up and drop off time changes... some daycares/schools don't take kindly to last minute changes.
Unfortunately - not all of us are perfect like you THINK you are.

Commercial Banking is where this mandate is being pushed. No school age children, however I feel for the parents that might need to make drop-off/pick-up arrangements in a hurry. Agree with several other posts that this is a strategy to increase attrition numbers to help alleviate severance package costs in the end.

Shouldn't you already have daycare plans lined up for 5 days a week anyway? Or are you babysitting while your are supposed to be working from home? These are some of the reasons they want us back in. You are part of the problem.

And yes, I have two kids in daycare five days week regardless if I'm in the office or at home.

What LOB is this? Is it site specific? I work in Irving and if management pulled that here there wouldn’t be enough desks to implement this since remote agreements were terminated. I feel for anyone affected, but it seems like a logistical nightmare without assigned seating.

there was a list on this a week or so ago. This is happening in certain parts of commercial banking. Perhaps other LOBs as well, but as of now it is a very LOB specific requirement

What do you expect when the company readily complains about employees not quitting fast enough? Aggravating people to quit is clearly their strategy. I'm not defending them. In fact, it's disgusting and has destroyed morale within the organization to all-time lows. But it is very safe to assume we will be treated like garbage to help those "attrition" numbers increase.
