Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

No Cafe coverage

My club has very few cafe associates. No matter how bad it gets, they will not let us shut it down. Today, only the team lead was working. They are making him work 6am to 9pm... Absolutely ridiculous and corporate should be notified. But yet remember no overtime at all no exceptions 🙄 MO--NS

cafe is a $h!t show in almost every club. Line backed up 15 people deep, one associate taking orders, running register, getting pizza, making pretzels, sundaes, etc.... and i thought burger king was ran poorly.

It is corporate's fault for not hiring full-time workers. Part-time workers - 10 to 20 hours a week - aren't there enough to build loyalty to the store, the brand, or respect the other people who work there.

Corporate allows managers to change everyone's schedule at the drop of a hat, within 24 hours. And all the managers do it on a daily basis - to everyone. People get a schedule made for three weeks out and they make plans according to the schedule they've been given.

If you don't know why it's not corporate's fault, then you are part of the problem. People don't come to work because working there su-ks.

I'm the only one in the cafe from 3:30 on, sometimes they'll have someone until 4:30 but not often. I can't get it done. Scan n go, keep the case full, answer the phone, wait on the people, keep dogs in our broken one-hole steamer, fill yogurt, keep pans clean - since we don't have enough - fill all the coffins with doughs, clean the entire cafe and seating area, plus all the other cleaning. Let me tell you, it's not getting done. I have to ignore lots of necessary sanitary cleaning in favor of not having overtime.

I start the minute I walk in doing doughs and anything else I can to get the closing work started. Doesn't make a difference.

I'm about ready to walk out and I've been there over ten years, in the cafe.

He has choices. We all do. No one is making him stay. He is making the choice to stay.

That's one example not to become a team leader , if the employees don't show up then all the work is put on you. You hear it from the manager why everything such a mess ,it's not worth the extra money to be so stressed out.

No one can make him work those hours. Management likely "asked" him if he could work it. He knows if he didn't, they'd get him at some point.
He really should have told them that wasn't his block schedule.

How is it Corporate's fault to staff the building? It's not their faut that your Club hired losers to work in the Cafe who don't show up to work.

I'm not defending Corporate, but these "internal" Club issues where grown adults don't show up for work is far from Kath McLay's responsibility or problem.
