A reliable source confirmed it was 2k that were let go today. Wishing everyone the best of luck, as I was let go in the summer so I feel your pain. Anyone that thinks it can't happen to them, trust me, it can!!!!

Is it a coincidence or not, 1000-2000 laid off from Cigna and they are pushing to hire 1100 Indian workers in Hyderabad India by then end of 2024?
Yes, in the Cigna Layoffs page (click the link at the top of this page), click on the "Active" button on the left. The top threads are the ones most recently posted about. Click on those threads to read the latest updates we have...
Has anyone heard anything?
it is a group meeting close to about 100 of us probably. i work in claims i think it’s formally called service operations department.
Sure sounds like it. It might not be you though. It might be announcing other layoffs in your department. Or maybe it's just changes in management that might affect your team. Can you say which department you're in?
If the meeting is a group meeting, then it could be an "update" about layoffs (not necessarily your lay off), or about something else.
If it's 1-on-1, it could be....
The ones I've heard about have been individual WebEx meetings scheduled rather last-minute.
i just got an email from our main manager for a webex meeting tomorrow morning for “organizational updates” this is more than likely a layoff, correct?
They always have layoffs every year but as I read these comments it says that Cigna has financial troubles, but it was just posted that Cigna once again had billion dollar profits. I don’t understand how they lay off for financial reasons but continue to post billion dollar profits and of course Cordani gets his bonus. It is so sad to live in fear whether you will be in the next round. This just doesn’t make sense to me.
How true is a second lay off coming on 11/9 ?
It’s true. 100% I know names on the list…
Can you share some locations and initials? So we can at least have a chance
Organic growth my a**. Artificial growth through staggered layoffs.
The fact that the higher ups keep spinning it as a "workforce reduction" where people "left" and it's meant to "reign in operating costs" makes me think the entire company is run by robots. People didn't leave, they were FORCED TO LEAVE, and these "operating costs" are PEOPLE'S SALARIES that they need to LIVE. The absolute lack of empathy from most of these executives is abhorrent.

Will this have a big impact on the Medicare side? Also, last round seemed to impact higher bands. Will 11/9 impact lower bands?

I was part of a larger layoff, which involved 1000-2000 people, in August. It came as a complete shock. I held a high band 4 position with excellent performance reviews. I was there for 10 years. Another round of layoffs occurred in September, and now in October. I've heard from a reliable source that there will be layoffs on the first Thursday of each month, staggered to avoid having to report WARN notices. There is another significant layoff planned for February. It’s so dirty how they staggered it to stay under the radar and preserve a good image.
Manager self service *did have a calendar out there which has since been taken down. Looks like we can confirm HR is monitoring this site.
Anyone had stated WARN Act standards for layoffs followed by Cigna? This standard are generally 60 days but for some states such as NY and NJ are 90 days. Means you get paid and continue all benefits as FTE 60-90 days from the day you notified about layoff and your severance package starts after these WARN 60 or 90 days.
"To praise Cigna after being laid off is just additional proof that HR trolls this site. "
Agreed. Plus the down vote spamming.. d-mb.
And yeah, this severance is a joke. I got 20 weeks after being laid off from a company (team eliminated) I joined less than a year prior.
CEOs: We fu-k over your company, then fu-k over your family.
To praise Cigna after being laid off is just additional proof that HR trolls this site. Generous severance- what a joke. This is a standard severance at best.
Cigna is still hiring?
Replying to "As for me, I am not surprised of my layoff. I was in a micromanaged organization that had to many managers/directors and not enough people “doing” the work. I see this as a great opportunity to find somewhere where people are high performers. I will still be looking at positions at Cigna. I think it is a great employer, I just was not in a division where where people were productive. With the generosity of severance package, it would pay for me not to find another Cigna position."
You got laid off and still think Cigna is a great employer and generous? Wow... Just wow. I'm lost for words. I wish you the best, but sounds like you've been drinking too much Cigna Kool-aid.
Look up Cigna Group Enterprise Severance Pay Plan on Iris. It is effective 10/1/23. It has a table on page 7 of the severance pay benefits. It is pretty generous. There is also an addendum effective same date that is in connection with future of work. For the 10/12 round of layoffs (I was part of), receiving benefits until term date of 11/11. The Cobra coverage while in severance period is affordable as well, $500 cheaper than regular Cobra coverage.

After almost 20 years, I have never felt this vulnerable in a position before, and have witnessed the culture shift from caring about its employers and meaning it to making decisions that demonstrate complete ignorance and lack of respect. I am not naive, I know businesses make hard decisions every day to meet the bottom line but the communication that once existed in the organization prior to all of the acquisitions was superb, more transparent and proactive and considerate. Not now!!! The FOW was a big slap in everyone’s faces, especially those hired for FT remote positions. I hope a positive more transparent culture and means of communicating across our business channels and departments returns if I’m blessed to still be standing in my role after March.
Do they lay off those with higher salaries first?
It happened to me too after 15 years and whoever wrote about the mean girls is totally right. Plus no one knows how to do their jobs any longer and God forbid you say something to them to try to teach them. I had two manager who had they actually managed to their level might not have managed my program into the ground. They are the ones who should be gone.
So sorry to everyone that was laid off. I was there for almost 5 years but resigned 5 months ago as I was in a very toxic environment. My manager was the worst manager I have ever had but he is still there. My mental health suffered greatly. When I left, I sent an email to his boss his bosses boss and the HRBP and I am sure it fell on deaf ears.
I found a wonderful job with a great company and an awesome manager. I am respected and valued. I am so glad I left Cigna.
Good luck to everyone.
I got laid off on Thursday too. Was in the legal dept and believed that my work was critical for Cigna to maintain its business in a very large state. The work volume and requirements of the job was a huge set up for me to fail. It was untenable and impossible for anyone to do well. 18 years there now gone. I am struggling with my mental health and for a company that tries to promote mental health awareness to the public dropped me, leaving me feeling sui-idal and despondent.
I’m so sorry that you feel this way. You are so much better than Cigna and you deserve much better. Don’t give up hope! You will find a job that appreciates what you have to offer.
I know individuals with 27 yrs and 35 yrs of service laid off on Thursday. Centene will be the demise of Evernorth/Cigna.

It was a popularity contest, at least in my org. If the VP didn’t like you, you were gone. Real life Mean Girls. It’s a blessing in disguise to be out of the toxic environment. Hope everyone affected takes a little time to heal their body and mind from the burn out and abuse.
Best of luck to everyone.
Where is the calendar in manager self service? I can’t find it.
During the Webex call, we were told that the number was 800, with 50 in Legal, all US based. My manager was let go, after 30+ years in the company. No written announcement of the layoffs but only Webex calls and town halls for the remaining staff.
I couldn’t find any calendar of layoff dates on Manager Self Service. I don't know where that rumor posted below came from. My sympathies for all the people affected by this. I work in SO and it’s become a train wreck and morale is in the toilet.
The company unfortunately seems increasingly mismanaged with no viable plan for the future. The whole Evernorth concept has been a bust and all the money dumped into it created most of the expense problem. It’s too bad because it used to be a great company.
I was let go yesterday. Half my life I worked here. Going to miss a lot of people but I hadn't been happy for a long time and didn't want to go voluntarily. Just bided my time until it came. Mixed feelings but excited for the next chapter.
Evernorth has always been suspicious. And the new pathwell specialty they are pushing is a big mess. As long as DC gets his money sc--w everyone else.
The layer of manager after manager is ridiculous as well.
Was Behavioral impacted a lot?
Evernorth is drowning in lawsuits filed by state attorney generals. The plaintiffs allege that Evernorth engaged in price fixing collusion schemes with dr-g manufacturers to raise the price of insulin into the stratosphere. There are a couple of documents here:

One example I found is here:

Has this only been Cigna side so far or XPress Scripts as well?
I was laid off yesterday. High B4 in Legal. Six month severance and 70%-ish of what my bonus would have been had I finished out 2023. Ten years seniority.
The calendar referenced is every two weeks. Always a Thursday.
Gives dates of when you have to submit to HR the paperwork to lay off. All layoff notices are on Thursdays
What was the severance package?
