Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I'm tempted, I won't lie

Would I be an id--t if I left Honeywell for a role that comes with a nearly 30% decline in total compensation?

I took a paycut and left for a government job. Best decision I’ve ever made. If you can afford please leave. At my new job I don’t even care about getting promoted or recognized. Just being able to get out of an abusive environment is more than enough for me. I now go to work thankful every day. My whole life changed for the better.

Best not to count on much beyond age 50 or so in today's aerospace and defence world. Plan to be financially independent by then if possible; those in debt after that point are "running on empty."

Maximum vacation not modifications.

Every year I get one extra day. Maximum modification that I can earn is 30 days. With one week carryover. Which would be 2.5 months of vacation. My last post I want to make sure it was clarified.

Again! I did not proofread after voice typing. This problem will be solved. They’re going to incorporate artificial intelligence into my assistant. It will be like ChatGPT.

When this takes place, all my posts will be spelled correctly, and I will use proper grammar. The artificial intelligence will take care of it. I’ll be able to have a conversation with it.

If Honeywell put this in the place, it would never work.

I’ll be taking 24% cut and pay. I’m getting so tired of the company pre-hiring people before interviews take place.

Why even post the posting internally? If you already have somebody that you want in the position.

If you’re gonna take a pay cut, make sure you get more vacation or better benefits. My New Job will have 20 days off a year. I have to work 10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday.

Every year I will get one in today. Maximum amount of vacation earned 30 days. I can carry over one week of vacation. In 10 years I will have 2.5 months vacation. I also get to work independently.

No more toxic environment and management to promotes it. Honeywell promote laziness and unethical behavior. I’m tired of the lies and then breaking state laws, federal laws, and company policies. I’m really getting tired of them promoting people they have no degrees. Learn as you go.

You should have to have some experience and a degree. I see how this place is going and I can no longer work here. Not sticking around for the new profile company alignment. Which will start before the holidays and continue into 2024.

My spouse informed me that had I stayed there, we’d be divorced and I would have lost “them” and the kids. Said they never saw me (“3+” ha!) and when I did come home, it was straight to the home office to work some more. Said everyone in my family feared asking me anything because they thought I’d bite their head off because I was always so stressed. As soon as I left HON, my elementary age kids remarked how noticeably happier I was and am.

So, no, it is not id--tic to leave that sh-t hole. Rather the opposite.

Honeywell health insurance is cr@p, another place might make a big difference particularly if you add family. I earn slightly less than when i did at Honeywell but way better Healthcare and an amazing work environment, I actually like going to work now!
That is huge for me!

Depends on how your work/life balance will change. If you will be home more, and you want to be home more, your life will be better. As long as you can still pay your bills, may be worth it if you are unhappy at Honeywell.

Dollar amount on your paycheck isn't everything.

I’m at half (to stem the tide) and am a million times happier. A paycheck is not something I would let justify spending another second with that god forsaken outfit.

First, can you afford the cut in the near to mid term? If so, is there potential to get back to your current salary over time? Wages at H are pretty stagnant and benefits below average, so you’d be doing something reasonable if it doesn’t put you in a really bad financial position.

I have often thought about partially retiring and working for Home Depot or Walmart in a "8-5" position buying time until official retirement age. Only you and perhaps your family can decide on whether your finances are in good enough shape to take a reduction. Stress can have serious effects on your health. If you are in a position to move your match from HW stock to something else, talk to your financial advisor to see if it works for you. If you leave the company, make sure to moves HSA funds if have some and then move your 401K into a IRA/Roth or another 401K plan.

Considering there are probably another round of RIFs coming in Q4, no, you are not.

What price can you put on happiness ?

Lucky you. Most people who’ve been at HW for any length of time will be earning well below market rate - even if they’ve been one of the better performers.
