Any remote employees safe and able to stay remote?

I’m remote and was impacted this week. Forced to relocate to a hub or take the severance. I chose to leave because I would be losing money by moving and this place has driven me up the wall in my short time here. I had one remote team member who is safe and didn’t have to move. I heard from a buddy in another department that he had the same happen. Anyone else have this experience? I thought the tyrants were going to force everyone to a hub but it appears there are some people safe.

There are many on our team that are safe and still remote. So far.

Was told to move to keep my job last year and packed up my family and moved ..Impacted this round consumer markets … If offered relocation to move to keep your job keep in mind it’s only a matter of time until your number is up again sadly … Also don’t move to Overland Park as the writing is on the wall for that campus

I'm the only remote person on my team and was not affected by this RIF, but if I was asked to relocate or take a package I'd have taken the package

I was remote and WFH 'OFFICIALLY' on paperwork with HR and have been LONG before COVID made WFH a real thing for most within the company. I'm out with no offer to relocate, no explanation other than the fluff from MS.

Hey - at least TMO is offering a move package (when they offer the move option), AT&T's RTO move package is "su-k it"...ie....nothing. Move or you're gone. Just for some insight...same cr-p everywhere in telecom...it's a commodity - party's over.

I was remote, but was not given the option to relocate. I would’ve taken that option.

OP here. They said they will offer an base increase based on location factor and a relocation package too but I was not given specific numbers. This is part of why I chose to leave. It’s outstanding they think they can get you to make a life altering decision to move but not give you exact numbers on what that would look like. It showed me how mindless they’re being with these decisions.

The WFH teammates I had are staying. I don't believe they were forces to relocate or take severance.

DEandI blah blah blah. Not all teammates are considered equal. Some are given choice to relocate or leave and others can Stay remote. It is totally unfair. So glad equity is one of those sacred mantras.

Nope not safe for me. I was also given the same "choice". Offered relocation to an HQ or...resign. A few people on my team were as well as there aren't many remote people on our team. They're definitely forcing the RTO by doing away with lots of WFH positions, though it seems not all. It looks like its a specific org thing.

I was given some time to decide on whether relocation is for me, but honestly I may be leaving. OP do you know if they offered to comp your salary for relocation?

" I had one remote team member who is safe and didn’t have to move."

Seems like you answered your own question. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
