Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

The worst part is waiting to hear about your org

The most messed up part about the layoffs besides the layoffs themselves is torturing people for weeks and weeks while they wait to hear their fate. It’s just cruel and the worst possible way to conduct business.

Serious question: Would you rather have a heads up a few weeks in advance? Or be surprised with no warning?

"I agree. I shouldn't even be awake right now. My alarm goes off in 2 hrs and I've slept about 45 mins so far. I'm exhausted but my brain just won't stop."

This was me until last week. I was part of Consumer. Freier let it slip that layoffs were coming during a meeting on 8/4. So the wait had already been a month for me. I barely slept. Anxiety through the roof. Now that I've been laid off, sleep has returned. Still some anxiety, but not as bad.

While the waiting is torture, it gives people time to get everything together. Time to update their resume, time to get their contacts in order, etc. Can take the time worrying or take the time being proactive, all about perspective. (Just to be clear i also agree that it su-ks)

I think it would be worse to find out with no notice, and have severance start immediately. They didn't have to do the 2 months of garden leave, and those on the tail end of the 5 weeks are really getting an extra 3 months.

I have been looking and interviewing for new jobs since I heard of the layoff. Making good progress

Yet my anxiety is out of this world! It’s just the wait.

My concern is, that I have lost any desire to be “un-carrier” these past few weeks. Even if retained, it’s going to be interesting to see how I go about my job

It's not the senior level folks getting to me. The decisions have been made. It's the outcome I expect that will greatly impact my family. So yeah, I'm gonna experience a high level of stress and anxiety. But thanks.

Don't let the Senior Level Te------ts win. Try to put of your mind and get some sleep. Don't let this effect your family life, they're what matters.

It's a good way to wear people down. That way they won't care if they're laid off. Everyone will be relieved regardless off the outcome. Enjoy the suffering and take what comes with a smile.
