Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO in Denver, Absolutely a mess

Badges not working to get into the building; you need a special badge to get in before 8 a.m. People working in the breakrooms and kitchens, people walking around telling others to be quiet. network connection repeatedly dropped, and if you did get connected to the wifi, it would kick someone else off. The line at the cafe took more than 20 minutes to order, and then an additional 20 if you wanted hot food. Whole areas of the office are not accessible to work, and Direct instructions to not interact with union folks...Glad my director told me just to go home at 2 p.m., where I can actually get real work done.

This will be a great working environment for the next 18 months before none of us get relocated, and we all quit.

Horrendous that a telco employee can't spot an issue with an undersized DHCP pool right away. When on person connects to wifi and it kicks another person off, you need more IP addresses allocated.

Best of luck to all of you.

I will create a solution when GRE starts paying me. Until then, I’ll do the work I get paid to do.

Leg-T has been in Denver for a long time. Was the Western NOC. Union folks are Leg-T.

Denver has legalized weed. Pop an edible and sit back and relax at the office.

“I don’t understand. Why are people are even going into the office when everyone will be out in less than 4 -6 months if they aren’t in a hub?“

Explain to me Einstein how a local wiring tech or an in region sales person is going to have to work from a hub? We do have some geniuses here. Your assertion is patently false.

I don’t understand. Why are people are even going into the office when everyone will be out in less than 4 -6 months if they aren’t in a hub? Why waste money on gas and time with family for no reason?

Yeah, I knew coming back in the office, I would be party to bs chitchatting. I haven’t been disappointed. Trying to get anything done here is a joke. A few people in the corner are really yucking it up, and have been for the past 2 hours. I heard one wire manager say they only have a handful of jobs today. Why don’t these people get layed off?

"Dang. I thought these AT&T "Managers" where a class above the Union Dregs. Turns out they will now need to account for their daily activities, and they have been coming up short for some time. Time for AT&T to clean house. Long, long overdue."

Now this freak is literally posting comments in reply to himself. I'm out, weirdo.

"Yeah I'm not happy either. No more sleeping in. No more Costco runs. No more mowing the lawn. No more sneaking off and getting some golfing in. Totally bummed."

Try again, and instead this time think about your coworker (yep) out driving around drunk in the suburbs in an AT&T truck during work hours. Only one talking about laundry and mowing while working is you.

"It's puzzling why we're in Denver, which is CenturyLink territory. The work should be moved to the West or South hubs. I understand the need for consolidation."

No, it's not. The information is out there and findable as to why we have a Denver location. If you don't know the answer, maybe talk more to people you work with (again, coworkers, not teammates) ... except this time, less talk and more listen. Try it and maybe you'll not post your embarrassing deep thoughts in the future.

"How will you help make improvements and be part of creating solutions?"

I really hate this disingenuous clown. Your passive-aggressiveness is intolerable, but I'm sure you're aware of that by now, based on the general shunning you've received from coworkers (guarantee no on considers you a teammate; just a crochety old dude with bad ideas and opinions). Find a hobby before you ki-l yourself with the crushing anxiety you feel.

The down votes, such affirmation. The downvotes will subside as AT&T removes excess and redundant "essential employees".

Here, and I thought Angela Santone had moved on to "greener" pastures. Yet here is an example of how long it takes to get rid of the funk. It still remains in her "wannabes".

Stankey doesn't care about you. You may have bought yourself more time to help the company work though the RTO process, but be very well assured when it is near complete, you will be swept away. "No one is safe" (John Stankey).

What is even the point of having to go into the office at Denver when there will not be one in the next year. The leadership at AT&T has the most the most inept, blind, and useless leadership there is.
For employees that have to look for a new job, having to RTO should be the least of their concerns. So f*%ked up

Whoever posted this should set an example by resigning first. This will help make improvements and be part of creating solutions.

He or she probably was doing that already, working from home.

Regardless of whether there are actual incremental gains in "productivity" from assembling everyone in the office, in 35 years across four industries I have never seen such immediate and thorough demoralization of a workforce by crummy executive management. Glad I got out.

Leaving at 2 is not going to be counted as working a full day in the office when higher level metrics reviews are completed. You meed to put in some additional hours on the office later this week.

AT&T might be bigger than just cell and such.

@hnz+1osC1yoE Many companies AT&T bought had significant presence in Denver, Cricket, and Directv each had thousands of people in Denver.
