Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How many total people are affected by the RTO?

I've read anywhere from 9K to 50K.

Correct to the person who said it above. I have been in the office most of my 28 years the only time I was at home was 2 years during cvoid. They are moving us to dallas.

More like 80% RTO since Covid

T had 60k work from home employees before the RTO mandate. Many haven’t worked in an office in a decade or more but T knows they can get rid of 20% just by telling them to drive 30 miles at an office. Then lay off another 20% who actually complied.

@ktb+1omt1RD2 “ Somewhere between 1 thousand and 1 million” that’s hilarious but for at&t standards sounds about right on target.

"Get to the office people. Like you did the first day on the job. "

I would sh-t for brains. Problem isn't that. It's that they randomly moved mine from the current location to somewhere 30m away. This isn't RTO, it's RTO to an arbitrary location we're picking under 50m so you quit w/out severance.

“Santone’s tenure included a period of massive job cuts. Largely through what AT&T called “surplussings,” rounds of layoffs have been conducted on a department level on nearly a monthly basis to reduce costs. The company stopped announcing job cuts years ago, and only discloses total employee counts in quarterly reports and filings. Last week, AT&T said it was increasing its $6 billion cost cutting effort by an additional $2 billion-plus over the next three years. Since the beginning of 2021, AT&T has cut 74,130 employees, including through divestitures, or 32% of its total staff through June 30.“

based on Stanks comment about being 15K less, that would put the company at 145K at the end of the year. 160K to start. I bet the company overshoots that target with all the surplus that has already occurred, and people turning down relocation

Heard only 300 people were asked to move in Sambar org. Sounds low but that’s what was shared.

Just go back to work and quit whining. How many of you cr_p-heads are there across the nation counting all companies? Must be tens-of-millions.

Best option for you is to get that job on the other side of the fence. Those jobs are so much better than the one you have now and must pay 3X more than you have now! You all describe these jobs as WFH and you do not have to drive into a g_d-forsaken office. I've read that a so many times. GO FOR IT!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?????

You guys are so smart, why the heck are you waiting? Job severance pay? Really, if things are so great for you, jump now before it is too late. You are getting all those emails about how many jobs are waiting for you......

AT LEAST (but will most likely be more.)

By the end of the year, the workforce would be 15,000 people smaller. Per STANKEY

Target is 90% direct , badged employees in an office by 2025. Should be easy to do, there will only be 15 people left by then.

For many it’s not just a rto. These people have been working in other att locations. Now they are being asked to move to Dallas. That is a bit different than return to office.
