Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Best decision

Best decision I ever made was to retire. I made the 75 rule. I retire 12/21. Cashed out. This company has gone to he-l!! Í feel for my old co-workers.

If your still here as an old person you did something wrong in your life. Not trying to be mean but who wants to work into their 60's as outside technician etc.

It was indeed a good decision. I punched out and feel fortunate to have had that opportunity. Took the cash option, rolled it into my IRA, and rolling on. Most of these negative comments show the true colors of those who haven't reached that magic number of 75. So, keep yapping or walk. Everyone has a choice.

“ retire 12/21”

You didn’t make the decision to retire. You jumped ship so you wouldn’t lose money. If all your benefits would have remained the same you would still be here.

Waiting around, check. Still contributing also a check. Just because some of us “old timers” are waiting doesn’t mean we don’t continue to do our jobs with integrity. We built this company, new management over the last 15 plus years has ruined it.

It’s disgusting for any long term employee to see what has happened and the reduction in all our benefits, waiting for a package or severance is our off ramp. Hopefully the ship gets turned and you will have the same opportunity in the future.

AT&T has too many old-timers that just hang around waiting until the end and contributing little. Amazing the company still runs despite this.

For Management there is no guaranteed $1800 pension in the SE. Your pension is based on the cash value of your Personal Retirement Fund (PRA) and what you can generate from it. Unless you choose an annuity, but everyone will be different based on your PRA balance and the annuity rate at the time you retire.

Yes I can confirm AT&T became a horrible place to work at. Leadership is just a bunch of low life no moral a-s kissing a***holes. I just love the town halls - the amount of fakeness and hypocrisy. Horrible, horrible and again horrible

If your are fully vested yes you get a pension but when you get it depends on if you met the rule 75 and officially retired if so you get it immediately if you didnt meet the 75 then you still get it but not until min age of 62 and most of us get a severance

To the person above stating you only get an overpriced discount umm no you get about $1800 a month til you die thats not enough to retire but alot of us are barely 50 so we can go get another job that we actually dont hate and afford to make a little less since the $1800 pension makes up for the discount

Well, best wishes to you and your overpriced "discounted" wireless service plan. That's about all retirement gets you.

I'm still working after 37 years and have seen a lot of retirements at AT&T.

Back in 1998 my District Manager retired at 49 years old and received a payout of $1M+ (severance + lump sum pension), plus health care coverage. That was one of many retirement incentive packages the company had in the 1980's and 1990's.

Hard to believe that was 25 years ago when retiring from AT&T was very lucrative for those reaching full retirement.

That was the "real" AT&T, but from what I the Southwestern Bell and the other "Baby Bells" (Bell Atlantic, Nynex, US West, PacTel, etc.) had similar buy out offers.

Does it really matter for Mobility employees to achieve MR75? Access to the heath care exchange for ridiculous priced out of pocket health care, sh-t pension, and a $500 retirement dinner. AT&T better revisit their retention policy, peace out bi--hes.

I retired at 57. No need to do something else. Just do whatever you want when you wake up.

Seems part of the workforce reduction strategy is daily shills on here talking about how great it was to quit or retire. Good for you. The rest of us still have bills to pay and are nowhere near retirement or quitting.

yes - he is confirming he made the right decision. 2021 was the last good year to go. I guess 2018-2019 was better for 65 and above.

And you are still here commenting. If you are so happy, should you not be doing something else? Shows you still regret leaving the company.

Best decision ever made was to pay me $75 an hour. Do you know what it’s like to be balling 24/7?!
