Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Diversity (or lack there of?)

My colleagues are high majority from a specific high growth region and seem to do their own thing. All the Europeans and Americans seem to get excluded from major projects and Americans disciplined, and eventually terminated if they don’t leave on their own. It’s a cycle I see over and over again. Europeans are protected by labour laws but this seems to happen time after time to Americans. Is this common on your team? I guess diversity is just lip service…

Yeah many of the EU have 5 year contracts that backs HON into a 2 year severance so it’s cheaper to severance out US staff and replace with EU leaders for a couple of years.

Sponsor H1B visas and reorg functions to high growth regions, slow pay your suppliers to a couple of times a year, pull ahead revenue.

It’s a model for failure.

Diversity? Isn't it about performance and capability regardless of what colour your skin tone is? Appears to be a racist post we got going on here and it ain't pleasant.
If a person of different culture decides to work harder than another, he/ she deserves to be recognised for what is delivered. Applies to individuals. If jobs are so-called 'stolen' try looking beyond just coloured skin tone as to why. Probably whinging about more pay, less work could be a good lead to follow.

Yep. Diversity is lip service EVERYWHERE.
Work flows to the lowest cost (read cote book) and by definition that means the most backward , racist, authoritarian, homogenous , downtrodden, culture. Been this way for 4000 years. Just happens faster now.
Used to be china and india were the cheapest but news flash.... africa and southern asia is already stealing those jobs. Study developing countries and you will see the pattern. Follow the textile industry. You need a stable goverment , cheap labor, proximity to a market. For our work proximity means they have internet.
The moment a country declares sustainability goals or sets out to eliminate poverty is the day honeywell starts looking to close factories.

Yes, but they fulfill the diversity requirement with South Asians. Honeywell will be an Indian/Chinese company in the end. There may some issues with the US military contracts though.
