Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

End of work from home exemptions

They are telling to phase back into work. Slowly no sudden moves. Anybody been waiting for this to call it and move on? Some of my coworkers live quite far and have said they won’t commute. I haven’t seen them running for the door yet.

I find it funny that people continue to act like the message hasn't been very clear. I wish we had more flexibility, but the policy is the policy. I try to adhere to it as best I can, would hate to be fired for cause because I refused to follow a policy. We all have a choice, accept it or find another place with remote working options. I've tried, and they're getting harder and harder to find. Just saying.

@5hfd+1oJVPNKO Interesting angle and you are correct about the commercial real estate values, there are huge offices near us that are still practically empty and seems to be the same story everywhere.
The bean counters for sure will be scratching their heads here on what their next move should be, Honeywell rents a lot of buildings too so I wonder how that plays into it. Be tough/expensive to get out of contracts in this market and sub letting is out of the question. Again, great point!

I've been reading lately that the commercial real estate market is currently in serious trouble (valuations are way down, in part because of the "glut" of office space available due to WFH).
CEOs can't be too happy about maintaining all this empty office space, not to mention the fact that they don't want to sell it off right now at fire sale prices. Hmmm, maybe if they could just get employees to return to the office, the valuations would go back up, and then they could sell it off and go back to WFH. Same strategy as stock pumping?

Yes. They did this to me and I left.

So glad to be GONE!!!! The executive greed at HW is destroying the whole company. My only regret is not leaving sooner.

Get a job offer, negotiate to WFH, if the answer is no, take the new job.

Oh god, 3 days a week is pushing me over the edge....a full week in a stinking run down, brown, sh1t stained 1980's building with no food options (except a sugar dispensary), no office supplies, crumbling IT and incompetent parasitic colleagues. It is so depressing.

@1smz
I have a cube and a nameplate and no neighbors. My aisle is empty. I can easily move into an office with a window as many have done. But I don't care. I'm not there enough to worry about it.

Removing WFH means Hon has to provide office supplies. Apparently that's a big expense.

Yes, this is happening. Full return is part of next years annual plan.

@qht+1oJPVNKO, you have a nameplate and an assigned desk, cube? I think that is one of the most dehumanizing aspects of the hot desk concept. You don’t always know who you are sitting next to day by day.

Our office is so depleted, that it is impossible to tell who is supposed to be there or not. We've got nameplates up that are 3 years old or more. There is no one there to remove them. I can admit that I've put up a couple that are 5 years or more older just to sc--w around. It's not like anyone is around to bust me. If my office were to go 100% in office, there might be 20% cubes occupied.
Honeywell is really sad.

5 days a week in open concept, hot desk seating. I’m sure it’ll be great for everyone’s mental health

DA made it quite clear in his final presentation HW wanted employees back in the office. Unfortunately it is only time before this happens.

The bootlickers and the brown nosers are champing at the bit to return, as their magic must be worked in person.

With the cesspool of the office in general. Who wants to be working in a bldg that the company does not care enough about to maintain. No supplies, bathrooms that back-up. Etc, etc,etc

No communication has been released for removing WFH. Even if they do I’ll never work 100% in the office ever again. The office environment is very distracting and to be honest quite disgusting.
