Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

RIF happening in two waves. One in Oct and one Nov, approx 5k employees in each wave. 20% of GBD will be eliminated. Goal is achieve $1billion of administrative savings needed to fund the shift to A.I. That’s the story line for the Street. Removing people to automate their jobs and improve scalability.

Employees impacted today were told to stay out of the media or it can affect your severance package. Must sign a release to get the package.

Largest profits in history for the company but yet, laying off over 5k associates and eliminating positions that HELPED achieve profits!! Why? Because they are greedy and just care about money but not the welfare or their own employees. Supposed to be a Healthcare company but with the waves of mass layoffs, their “former” employees will suffer feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety because GAIL only cares about money and not the employees. But yet she is getting award after award and it’s the employees who got her where she is!! And now, a lot of former and current employees hate her.

You'd be foolish to think anything you do on or with a company asset is anonymous. Each type of device (PC, phone, etc...) has its own means of revealing to them precisely who you are and how you respond. Don't take the chance - just don't complete any surveys. Expressing your real options about anything this company does is a dangerous prospect.

There is always a release on any severance package, but if they don't keep up their end of the bargain- for example, messing with the severance checks not being paid out on time, saying you're rehire eligible but not make jobs available and have a black mark on your record, or if you don't do your performance evaluation before you leave, they will give you a 1 or 2 on your final performance evaluation which will eliminate your AIP and eliminate your rehire eligibility. So, don't be fearful about the release you sign for severance. Keep track of documentation on your job performance, etc.

The annual survey is supposedly confidential, but not anonymous. Which is very different.
As soon as I found out they were not anonymous, I stopped providing honest feedback. I doubt there is a correlation, but if you were truly unhappy then it was probably not a secret to your manager.

I wonder how many gave a less than stellar annual survey, you know the ones that are confidential. This was my first year giving a honest response and I just got RIF'd. Oh well, no more crying because my team mates work against those of us not offshore with them.

It’s a sad day for many of us! Cuts in behavioral health should be non existent given the statistics of the need. Our children, adults and families are suffering due to “RIF”
