Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Team Morale

It's been really bad for the past couple years here and they just keep making it worse and worse. Everyone on my team is checked out. Job title demotions, no real wage increases for years, benefits decreases, unqualified management who have no clue what the people on bottom go thru or have to deal with, no promotions. They flooded the ranks with Indians who are like a gang. They recently laid off a number of people not in hubs and they didn't even mention it, it was like yeah they're gone just another day. I was like what happened to my only friend at work. They want me to trouble myself with going above, like why should i. I'm going to look for another job, if for no other reason than inflation is like up 40% from 3 years ago and my pay has went up like 2.5% in that time. The work here is so boring too, its all some trash a work a bunch of worthless consulting partners dreamed up as a kick back to the regulators who get their pockets lined.

It's so sad. Work could be a positive place. It's all about mindset. It goes against the laws in nature (& is almost criminal) to make this place as uninhabitable & miserable as possible.

OP, do you work at JPM? I haven't noticed much of anything you've stated in my LOB.

To be a worker at WF is to know that it is wrong to wish or ask for anything. Keep quiet, head down, stay in line and don't ask questions.

This company is the equivalent of a father sitting at the head of the table, slamming his fist down for some reason while all of his family sits quiet wondering what they did to deserve this.

Aside from seeing a therapist or quitting, team morale is a useless tool to cope with the realities of the day to day existence.

KK in SSO freaking ruined both morale and productivity in her organization by announcing last month in a town hall that they were indeed coming after all the non-hub people.

We’re working at a big corp. Don’t take it seriously. Do what you gotta do as a professional to get compensated.

"My productivity has plummeted the past year. I have zero incentive to go above and beyond, am now just getting my paycheck and checking boxes."

This is exactly what most in my group (tech) are saying. It isn't just a few people quietly stating this. It is out in the open. It's routine. Even management doesn't believe half the cr8p that comes down from on high. Look at them when they speak. TK, you can read like a book.

I would love a package. I earned it with my decades here. Give that to me and we can shake hands and be on our respective ways.

if I leave, my manager would have another chance to sponsor another recent graduate H-1b. So he doesn't care.

When you see postings asking for <= 3 years of experience.

Been around a few decades. Morale has never even been close to as bad as it has been since Shart arrived. By deed and words, which are clearly lies, he hates every one of us and wants to fire us all. He is doing everything in his power to avoid severance costs, while he has an ironclad golden parachute agreement that is never in jeopardy even though zillionaire execs losing their job has no meaningful impact on their finances. He's a poor excuse for a human being, and his toadie, SP, is even worse. These men are failed leaders and have no idea what they are doing. It isn't possible for any company to succeed unless their employees truly care about their work, and these two clowns have done everything they can to stop people from caring. It's all heavy handed BS to try to force the issue, and it will never work. They think if they just fire enough people, the new blood or the ones that remain will magically start caring again. Doesn't work that way and their tactics are doomed to fail. I'm not 100% sure if they are destroying the company intentionally or through incompetence, but either way the results are the same.

This company is nothing like when I joined 8 years ago. What a shame. Charlie has destroyed morale in the US and should be replaced immediately.

We have one in our group and said person will not leave without a package. Was already demoted in title.

I think those who they want to displace for whatever reason (already eligible to retire or remote or whatever) they will continually look for ways to terminate, demote in title and insanely low to no raise or bonus, all hoping they quit. That’s a much longer process, but I am noticing an unofficial trend with some I know. I have to think they would save more money in the end if they just made the bigger cuts already.

In marketing it’s all about perception so we are expected to act like we are excited to be here and thrilled with our leaders. It’s literally the most important part of the job.

No burnouts here! We are ALL IN with the bank of DOING!

I felt the same was as OP before I was let go earlier in the year from HM. It was a blessing. I am so grateful for where I am now. WF does not care for the little guys. It’s all about themselves at the top.

What about those past retirement? They could use a little incentive to depart too. We have a lot of those in my group.

So true. I wish they would just accelerate the layoffs and give us all a package so we can be on our way. First in first out would probably make most sense as those employees have less experience, institutional knowledge, and lower severance cost.
