Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The current RTO cannont be a long term standard.

If we are office workers, give me a defined space to personalize, hang up photos, and make my own workspace. With everything being shared now, I spend half an hour even finding a good spot where I can work with limited distractions and another 15-30 minutes rewiring the docking station as the last person who used the shared space apparently doesn't know how to use those. Then another 5-10 minutes get online each day. I easily waste 30-60 minutes daily just getting set up to "work" in this environment. If you want me actually to be productive, give me an assigned cube, where I can make it mine, hang up pictures of my family, and show up, dock my computer, and work each day.

The mass shared call center set up will drive everyone insane and productivity has already suffered.

The “soft landing” spots are in the latrine, broom closet or outside by the dumpster.

for what reason?

To make you want to quit. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I just got a notice that my assignment location has changed. It went from a short, tolerable drive to a long distance, intolerable drive barely under a 50 mile difference. It's a drive through heavy metro traffic 3 days a week . . . . for what reason? I can see nothing more than making my life miserable so I'll quit

I’ll find something else unless something better comes along before then.

Yeah man, many people think the same way, but that something else... almost everything else, is doing the same thing.

Wishful thinking. Take a look around. Almost everyone is doing it. There is a major attack on remote work unfolding, and it's not stopping or turning around any time soon. I don't know who and why wants it, but clearly someone very powerful is pulling the strings, and all these corporations comply.

I was laid off. 2 of my friends in different companies, who worked remotely, got laid off this week. Right now, LinkedIn is swarmed by ex remote workers who got laid off from whatever well knows company they worked at for 15-20 years. And almost every decent remote position currently available is getting hundreds of applications as everyone is desperately trying to find a replacement for that they just lost. Trust me. I'm seeing it every day, and I'm one of them.

“ Time to invest in cheese for all the whine here.

You will comply because you need your paycheck and you don’t have the spine to leave on your own. They know this. Quit expecting someone else to do for you and make your own destiny. The weakness is astounding.”

The down votes on this post is equivalent to a vote for Biden…

The soft landing spot is using a cushion while working on a toilet. Bring air freshener.

I don’t see how this is a viable long term solution, I really don’t. I’ll give them a little bit to get it fixed, let’s say till Dec or so, after the holidays, I’ll find something else unless something better comes along before then. I don’t plan on sticking around more than 6 more months at this point unless something changes for the positive.

"In Atlanta they literally send email saying find a soft landing spot if you can’t find enough room"

What do they mean by soft landing spot? Working in the hallway or something? I'm honestly curious.

Attendance is down in the main 2 hub cities and never increased in the non hub cities. Surplus and RTO ongoing but very slowly.

It is ridiculous. In Atlanta they literally send email saying find a soft landing spot if you can’t find enough room. There are many that are not coming to office and even more who don’t put in 8 hours. Sure they have the reports but so what. They are not asking supervisors to take actions yet. May be it gets to that point we see how this story unfolds as time moves on.

That's literally the point. They want 20% to go insane and quit, then they will move the other 80% to ATL or DAL without relocation, only to lose 50% more. then 25% of those that go to ATL or DAL will then get laid off. then they will consolidate office space, sell floor space, and tell people to work from home again, and they will say the saved BILLIONS! and RTO was a great success.
