Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Discrimination, Exclusion, Indoctrination

I’m sorry if you have been told your only worth is your skin color, race, se-ual orientation, veteran status, or disability. My god didn’t make a mistake when you were created.

While these things may be a part of you they are not all of you. Nor should you get special credit because you fall into one of the categories.

I fall in 3 DEI categories and I’m worth more than the white man telling me because I’m black I deserve a job. No I deserve a job based on my works.

DEI does the opposite of this quote from MLK. It is judgement of the skin color that DEI perpetuates.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." -MLK

I hope one day we can live like MLK said.

Equality > Equity

I agree. Focus should be on equality and fair access to opportunity. We demean our African brothers and sisters by giving them opportunities based on skin color not skill or character. IMHO.

The E in DEI should be for equality not equity. equality is we all have the same rights and access to opportunity. Equity is what you get when pay down your car or own loan and own (have equity) in your belongings. We already have equity in America as in one person one vote. We are all one "shareholder" in America with that one share losing value daily as the population increases and the value of our share is diluted (lessened in value)

Pretty sure giving someone a job based solely on their race is racism against everyone who didn’t get the job.

The intention for DEI is a good one. I understand the concern. But it’s not going to ever satisfy the masses.

This original post entirely ignores the fact that the reason DEI must be carried out very intentionally is because a lot of people have benefited from institutional and structural racism at the expense of others. Skin color is a major factor influencing one's success - not because of how they view themselves, but how the privileged view them and how systems are built to disadvantage them. Periodt.

People like this used to be brave enough to just come right out and tell you they are racist. Thanks to progress, now they have to play games and write riddles. Progress is progress.

I got to say, I agree with this take. Especially in our call centers. Folks that fall into the DEI category are far more likely to promote than someone who is a straight white person. I see it all the time with people getting promotions and let me tell you a lot of the time it is not based on merit. Just how it is here at T-Mobile. But they make sure to do it in a way that they are free from any lawsuits.
