Imagine a world where as a leader you are applauded for outsourcing or laying off your self-proclaimed most valuable asset, the people who install the service, take the customers call, process the data, sell the service, collect the payments, etc.
These are the same leaders who failed to support or grow revenue.
In the end, the first two levels of employees are held accountable for the 6 levels above them. Upper management is unaccountable for failure and now believe eliminating the people who do the work translates to success.
It’s a cabal that supports themselves at the expense of others. All the evidence you need is shown in the hierarchy. Levels 3, 4, 5, and 6 with a few direct reports or much lower level reports to give the appearance of a large span of control.
