Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

$$ Money $$

Leg T/CWA Union workers under me who work overtime every week make more money than I do and if they're laid off, they'll get more termination pay than I'll get. I have no resentment or jealousy. I'm just sharing a fact. The men and women on my team are hard workers and they earn their pay.

“ I make $180k and only work 35 hours a week. You can keep your OT. I like my free time”. You’re exactly what the company is targeting for surplus. Enjoy your 180k while you can as you’ll be out of a job soon.

AT&T will soon tidy up, and will be removed of leeches as yourself. Everyone that makes $180K works 60+ hours.

I'm sorry about that. This is AT&T...
Stankey has bills to pay. ( Randell and Stankey have made a few strategic and costly mistakes here lately). It has affected everyone. You are nothing special.

What's the point? I used to manage bargained for (years ago) and there were some that made more than I did, never had an issue with it. Many times those were the same folks I could count on during storms, outages, whatever.

I did however have a problem with folks that abused OT, or downright falsified timesheets. Also had a problem with d-mb policies that were inherited when some other markets were absorbed, such as mandatory minimum type policies (I.E. -I am on call and get a phone call from the NOC, that's an automatic 4 hours OT, every time the phone rings). Those policies were ripe for abuse, and were indeed abused by some. Glad we eventually did away with them.

If there’s no resentment why bring it up? We all know management doesn’t like to offer overtime even when it’s really needed due to them worrying about how much craft is making vs them. Craft doesn’t get the bonuses Mgt gets nor the flexibility of mgrs and most mgrs were once craft but purposefully pursued “promotions” to Mgt so most were in control of their own careers

Ok, this is normal and bargained for.
