Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How did our CEO become so cold-blooded that he can easily….

  • Terminate employees for no cause, which can be devastating to families, both financially and emotionally. Income loss for such workers can last the rest of their careers. Does he really have to inflict harm in order for Wells Fargo (and himself) to become even more prosperous?
  • Weaken our communities and country by offshoring? What kind of a person is able to rationalize that in his mind? I’m pretty sure our fathers and grandfathers didn’t go to war so that people like Charlie could sell our country out from under us. Shouldn’t protecting the health and well-being of our own nation’s working people be a higher priority than temporary increases to corporate profits??

(Sorry - I don’t buy in to stock the answer that something is okay because others are doing it. The same could be said of everything that is wrong in the world.)

Does our CEO take pride in being able to distance himself from hurting other people in order to make the big bucks? It’s okay to be heartless because his job is to provide value to shareholders?? (I would argue that there are far more fair and ethical ways to accomplish cost-cutting and efficiencies that would ultimately make Wells Fargo a higher quality bank which shareholders and customers could both profit from AND trust.)

**If Charlie has no hesitation or moral conflict to do what he does for money, where does he draw the line?? What won’t he do??**

Does he stiff waitresses on tips?? Stretch the truth to avoid paying taxes?? Inside tips on stocks? Is it okay to dump Wells Fargo trash on the side of highways if it cuts costs? Hide discriminatory practices? Are the buildings we’re working in safe - what if Charlie saved money by not fixing a broken fire sprinkler system?? Resist being honest about our lack of progress towards getting right with the Feds, so he can continue to cash in on Wells Fargo’s weaknesses? Destroy evidence of fraud? Sell customer’s confidential financial data??

Can the man person who lacks moral character and common decency really fix Wells Fargo?? To me, the answer is blatantly obvious.

Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.

Charlie is that bad and yet every single one of you still work for him. Bravo!

Charlie has never known struggle. He had his resume handed to Chase CEO Jamie Dimon personally by family friends and that's how he got his start.

He is brutally disconnected from real life. Almost makes me miss Stumpf.

Not “everybody”. Some.

I would take a voluntary severance immediately because my circumstances would benefit from it. But my coworker who is just starting a family would not.

But I thought being laid off was the golden ticket here? So many opportunities. People beg for it.

Wells Fargo has enough human beings at work. I enjoy every moment with my co workers across the Coast and really it does not matter what decisions are being taken for money. Till my role exists will enjoy every moment here.

@1xvy is the type who doesn't understand how the planet getting warmer can lead to more rain in certain areas.

This was a problem that was just exploited by the asset cap and account opening problems

lol people that "think" like this are your coworkers and you wonder why the bank is failing

@upr+1o44qoVn No, you don't know what you're talking about. Offshoring is the epitome market forces at work. You're expendable in the race to the bottom. Libertarianism is a con to manipulate dupes like you into arguing against your own best interest.

So, the company should just continue to carry too many employees? This was a problem that was just exploited by the asset cap and account opening problems. Wells always hired too many and never let go of much outside of mortgage cycles. The layoff strategy is poor though because they are losing the wrong people and don't even ask for manager feedback.

Not really. Abandoning RTO and the location strategy would be capitalism. This mo--n in Hudson Yards is doing something else.

@ovf+1o44qoVn - stagecoach is emblematic of Wells Fargo - antiquated, inefficient, struggling to keep pace in a world that has long left it choking on dust.

The Stagecoach was pushed over the cliff awhile ago. Literally. It's slowly disappearing from marketing materials. Under CS it's a new bank , inside and out.

Lack of empathy is linked to low emotional intelligence and narcissistic personality disorder, similar to Madoff and Kanye.

“Terminate employees for no cause, which can be devastating to families, both financially and emotionally. “

You are operating on the assumption that employees are human beings to him. Think of yourself and your co-workers as plastic pieces on a child’s board game. Interchangeable, easily replaced, and with no intrinsic value apart from that assigned by the players. That’s what we are.
