The art of backfilling for cheaper labor.
The reason Sambar and his subordinates said no surplus is because the move is the surplus. Some positions will be off payroll by Sept if they say no the the move and then another set will be off by next spring if they say no. That's the surplus right there. No need to cut additionally, just wait for the dust to settle from that and revisit.

Engineering is going back to the contractors like anyone with 25+ yrs or more remembers, been done more than once before. It’s like the old Bell symbol, they keep circling around and trying to reinvent the wheel and expecting a different result.

Too bad October 27th is in the 4th quarter and not the 3rd. I guess that would mean no layoffs in the 3rd quarter.

If you want out as I did, talk to your manager and let manager know so your name is in the hat. Worked for me and got severance. In my case I couldn't deal with nonsense anymore. Good luck folks.
