I think it's time for the HQ workers to call for a union. The RTO is clearly just another effort to surplus employees.
For the workers that are left, its like the wild west to fight for parking and a desk somewhere in the building. We should have assigned workstations. Being in the office 3-5 days a week, there needs to be space for 100% of the people no matter how you schedule your in office days.
The open office space is like working in a call center. It is very difficult to have conference calls when you are on top of the person next to you with basically a cardboard wall separating you. Also, since you have no idea where you will sit day to day, your team could be spread out all over the place. Wasn't the purpose of this to allow better collaboration? Collaboration is not about all being a meeting room, but being around your teammates to have impromptu discussions. With them being all over the place, you will end up just calling them. Like WFH.
Talking points:
- Everyone required to be in the office should have an assigned workspace and available parking, if needed.
- Teams are seated together.
- Offices need to be in locations that people feel safe after hours.
- No forced moves to HUB locations. Those outside a HUB location would be allowed to WFH in their present position.
- Anything else we can think of?
