There is talk of major lay offs taking place across Optum on 8/10/2023 over on the Optum thread. Apparently there was a meeting today with people leaders advising them on how to handle lay off meetings. 500+ people in the meeting

Disappointing. I was laid off this morning and received 5 weeks severance. I have given my heart and soul to this company for a decision that was not performance related, so essentially my contribution had zero value! How much profit does the company and the multimillionaire CEO have to make for staff to by safe?
Why wasn’t any state notified per the WARN act? We’re supposed to have 60 day’s notice. Especially since they’re billions in debt they had to know this was coming
It’s true I just got laid off with WellMed. My two cents. They buy more than they can chew being greedy. Bought out all these clinics, cuts coming next year from Medicare Medicaid… now they are trying to make their money back by laying off all these people.

They laid off 8 medical assistants and about 30 others in my location. Then during the update meeting said they are lifting the hiring freeze.
Naw son.. manager tried to fire me on the zoom.. I called IT got my account reactivated.. and emailed HR.. EFF that I come with the building! 22 years! Only way out is lotto or court. Somebody gotta pay for my pain!

Yep 24 people in my department was let go. This sad, you give a company your all in all and this is how Optum say Thank you for your hard work.

I was laid off today 18 years! A another colleague 26 years. Just shut off our computers and IT said talk to your manager. So sad!

I was also just laid off today by optum after 7+ years with no notice.
it does not take a rocket scientist, however to figure out the writing on the wall when you see managers and directors laid off just a few short months ago.
But I also see another comment in there that is 1000% correct as during their Townhall’s. They talk about the hundreds of millions of dollars that they were investing into clinics and technology but not into their workforce unless their workforce is located in Ireland India, the Philippines, or Puerto Rico. .

UHG employee here. I’ve already heard of 6 of our teams employees being laid off when they walked in this morning.
Just got notice here in San Antonio that they have lay offs going on at corporate. Haven’t heard anything going on at the clinical level!! What is going on 😖 I’m a medical assistant should I be concerned?
I work for Optum in SA and it happened this morning, we lost 3 coworkers in my line of business but it seems they are choosing randomly. One was here 10+ one 8 yrs, and 2 yrs… it’s sad.

4 or 5 years/grades 20-26=4 weeks, 27-28=6 weeks, 29 and up=12 weeks
6 or 7 years /grades 20-26=6 weeks, 27-28=8 weeks, 29 and up=14 weeks
8 or 9 years/grades 20-26=8 weeks, 27-28=10 weeks, 29 and up=16 weeks
10 or 11/grades 20-26=10 weeks, 27-28=12 weeks, 29 and up=18 weeks
