There is talk of major lay offs taking place across Optum on 8/10/2023 over on the Optum thread. Apparently there was a meeting today with people leaders advising them on how to handle lay off meetings. 500+ people in the meeting
Anyone know if this is happening at UHC Thursday too??
Just off phone with a former UHG exec who still has numerous contacts. The "layoff" is NOT just Optum, but across UHG. They stated they've heard numbers as high as 10% of the entire workforce....up to 30,000. Why would anyone WANT to work for this company...their approach is horrible to employees! Yet Witty, who's raking in millions continues to preach how important "team members" are....what a fake and farce! It's little more than ALL about the stock price!!

There is another RIF tomorrow at Optum. They had so many to process that human capital couldn't handle them all at once. The meetings you are referring to were to coach remaining staff through the RIF.
Was just asked for some production numbers so they could evaluate staffing on my team
Heard from leadership today that no one is safe. Said they “heard” there will be a large number of layoffs at UHC tomorrow.
I am not referring to the meeting called “leasing through change”. I was in that meeting and it was def not about lay offs.
This meeting was called “manager notification” and I’m wondering if it was just for Optum or if uhc leaders were involved too. The anxiety of all these impending lay offs is driving me nuts
It’s not related. It’s just meetings geared to newer managers and mostly Change managers that now have to be indoctrinated to the UHG way. Info like common reviews, adding map goals, supporting anxious staff….
My manager (UHC E&I) had a “Leading Through Change” meeting on calendar. Not sure if it’s layoff related but I can only assume.
