I am one of those union id--ts you are talking about!! I will reach my modified rule of 75 later this year. I have been offered management jobs over the years and turned them down due to the fact management medical su-ks compared to union in the southeast. I work with people, who are union paying members, that have engineering degrees from GT, who have masters degrees in computer science. We are not id--ts, we have just watched over the years how the company treats managers, like dogs. I can only think of 2 supervisors that have been promoted in my almost 25 years that are still on payroll.

So remember this, we are not id--ts!! Most Union members make well over $100k, think this company is being run by a bunch of id--ts and that includes your middle management job of staring at excel spread sheets!!!

BTW, if you are a manger and make $50k-$75k a year at ATT, you really are an ID--T!!!!

There is no standard answer. Some people will get two weeks. Some may not get to choose when they leave if they want severance.

You may say “I’m not moving “ and they will tell you “ok , we will let YOU know when you are off payroll.”

Some may get weeks, some may get months depending on how quickly your boss can reallocate your work load.

You are in Management and can’t afford to relocate? That makes no since. Maybe if you have only been here a year and just bought a house I could understand.

The person who posted this must be one of the union id--ts. Everyone in at&t corporate are managers including level 1's who make 50k a year. Being a manager does not mean you are managing people, in at&t speak it means you work as many hours as you need to get your stuff done for the same pay.

Comments like this show a level of ignorance that is almost shocking, people everywhere regardless of their title have reasons they may not be in a position to move. A very good reason is moving closer to a large city where cost of living is probably going to be significantly higher and as someone else pointed out replacing a 3% or less mortgage with a 7%+ mortgage.

I know of one person who is the middle of a multi-step reconstruction surgery from cancer who cannot leave there current medical team for at least another 3 years. Why anyone would come on this board and bash people who dont want to or cannot move is beyond me, if you want to move to keep your job for a few months longer, enjoy...

Just leave already. T doesn’t need you. You are part of the problem. Please leave

Those who assume management can automatically afford to relocate also need to consider market conditions. Interest rates are sky high right now…why would one sell their home with a 3% mortgage to buy one with a 7% mortgage? It makes zero financial sense. Not to mention the housing market may very well be higher in Dallas or ATL than current location. Some of us are making decisions based on logic and not screwing ourselves financially in the long run.

T want you to resign w/o severance pay. They will use you and and abuse you until you leave on you own. But they underestimate the resilience of the people.

It's really not that hard to understand. If someone's house isn't market ready, it could cost a lot to get it that way. And then finding a comparable house in GA may be a lot more expensive if he's coming from a less expensive market; of course with a higher interest rate than he may have. Then you have to pay for your own relocation, and it's probably not something you could/should do on your own with a UHaul. Maybe he's got kids in college, and if they're getting in-state tuition, it will be costly to lose. Makes complete sense to me.

Nobody knows this unfortunately. It's differed in every case so far (and there aren't many data points). They could stretch it out til November, December, or beyond, even if you decline in July. Makes it extremely difficult to look for a job knowing you'd have to leave severance on the table if you walk about before T decides to officially surplus you; but then again, that's your goal.

As another potential consideration, you might have accumulated vacation and PTO time. Also, it is not illegal to hold two jobs. Just be transparent with your supervisors about it.

People seem to think that being management here is like a guaranteed big payday, it's not. There's a lot of us who are hourly wage management please don't ask to explain it.
To the person with a question if you're looking for severance I guess you just got to hang out until they tell you to leave, if you don't care you could just keep working even if you're not there until they say why aren't you here, not sure that would go well on the would you rehire for future jobs

T will meter releases to limit their cost each quarter. The goal is for you to leave on your own. They will look for managers to provide risk evaluation on employees likely or non likely to leave.
