Why is it so hard to get into this bank and then once you get in you see that no-one knows how to do their job, takes ownership, or even cares? I swear when interviewing a panelist said "Why do you want this job, it's not like you have a PHD in statistics?" (For the record, the job did not require that, or even anything remotely similar in qualification.) The job is hyped up in the description & in the interviews as this really hard & serious job, but when you get here you see that no-one knows really what they are supposed to be doing, boundaries are crossed all the time by management & coworkers & there is very little communication as to what you're supposed to be doing & for whom. What gives?

Getting this job was the easiest job I ever got. The interview was a joke. I shouldn’t have ignored that red flag.

Not true. I make a cr-p ton and they barely utilize my skill set. Working on getting into a p5 role now
Too many managers are hiring their friends
Once upon a time our roles made sense. The new regime is pandering to remove the asset cap. The top hires are all buddies that are here to feed on the dying company and jump before everyone realizes they didn’t do anything good.
P.S. Welcome to the funny farm!
WF is a sh-t wagon, surprised it even runs.
I needed to read this today. Yes, cognitive dissonance is right. For those of us who have been here a long time, it was not always this way. Groups have been stripped down, ownership taken away, processes made more complex to the point that they are almost incomprehensible. It is now a struggle just to figure out what is going on day to day. I think the bank is intentionally being run into the ground. I am struggling with that every day. I just have to remember, cognitive dissonance.
There's a lot I loathe about the new Wells Fargo, but I'm fortunate in that I work with some very intelligent and capable team members.
Two words: cognitive dissonance
You pay me minimum wage, you get minimum effort.
Not caring started when Hudson Yards started firing everyone, selling off entire businesses, sh-----g on long time employees, and forced RTO on tens of thousands of workers for no reason other than to torment them into quiting.
Bottom line, if they don't care about us or even the efficiency of the business, why should we?
Low paying bank jobs is the reason. Wells Fargo gets what they pay for which is nothing!
