Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Gotta admire Chevron

Any company who can persuade it's customers to pay 75c more for gallon of gas for a product which is arguably identical to a lower priced competition (ARCO) must be appluaded.

Really that is brilliantly done.

That's the power of branding, commericials and clean bathrooms

The notion of “bad gas” was simply cooked up by lazy mechanics unable to properly diagnose the engine problems on your POS American car.

to the guy who thinks that CVX gas is actually much better , ie pistons etc. are less dirty really is programmed to believe the marketing nonsense CVX puts out. ALL gas sold in California by law must have cleaning additives added yes ARCO . Yes Techron is supposedly better at it, but it not really all that much better at it, and with modern engines the difference is not a great if any. yes for older engines it might be the case. Any way the point is getting less so given that in 10 years the ICE is basically going to be obsolete. #1 selling car in Ca is a TESLA

In San Ramon, Costco is about 70 cents less per gallon. Not a surprise the Costco station is packed when you can save 15 to 20 dollars. Costco may even buy their gas from Chevron without the proprietary additives.

I have never heard of an engine having trouble because of long term use of cheaper gas. It's all basically the same.

Chevron and Exxon along with their sister brands Texaco and Mobil are truly the very best gasoline you can put into your expensive cars and trucks. I’m not too sure about the 75-cent price per gallon difference the OP makes. Maybe he’s an Arco shareholder, who knows. I’ve been using the 4 brands I mentioned for over 30 years. None of my vehicles have had any kind of carburetor or fuel injector problems ever. If in fact there is any truth to the OP’s claim on price, I would gladly pay the paltry premium as an investment to stay out of an expensive repair shop down the road. Keep your Arco gasoline. Like the old saying goes, “You can pay me now or pay me later. “

How many of you keep your cars beyond 10 years? All gasoline are practically the same for the typical duration you hold to your car [less than 15 years].

Clearly OP doesn't understand that all gases are NOT equal. I will also say I've never seen a $0.75 per gallon difference between stations in the same location.

My mechanic swears by Techron - has showed me photos of pistons and cylinders that run on cheap gas and those that run on Chevron. Pay me now or pay me later.
