Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How does it feel to be working from the office?

I will definitely leave because this place has become too toxic.

Never left the office, had to work doing covid. Trust me, if you want your job, you will do what you need to do to keep it. As far as the managers I see swapping your badge to work 4 hours a day, it will catch up with you

“I login at the office at 9, I canceled or reject any meetings from 12-1 so I can go get something to eat, when the clock hits 5, I log out. I drive home and don’t check emails, take calls or respond to texts. I’ll respond when I’m back at the office at 9am.”

This is an RTO success story! T is getting a lot more hours from you with this schedule and there is no change to your lack of responsiveness after business hours.

Home is better but for $400 a day I’ll do it a while.

Su-ks, really it does. I have shifted how I work to no calls, emails or anything until I login at the office at 9, I canceled or reject any meetings from 12-1 so I can go get something to eat, when the clock hits 5, I log out. I drive home and don’t check emails, take calls or respond to texts. I’ll respond when I’m back at the office at 9am. I’ve noticed others starting to do the same. They want me in the office full time, it’s going to be office hours and I’m going to start taking my lunches again and managing my work life balance. Those extra 3 hours a day they used to get are now gone. Oh and I don’t talk to anyone about work at the office, no one I need to collaborate with is even in my building. I was virtual before covid and there was a reason for that, I deal will folks all over the country, so unless you want me to travel (which they won’t let me) then this is entirely pointless.

"Haha, reading the responses to this whole RTO is like reading comments about wearing masks. Human behavior doesn't change. Bitterness on both sides - Mad because you are obedient, mad at those for being obedient. "

Tell me about it. I feel like a complete ar-e hat for getting the Vax because this company of buffoons said do it or get out. I should have got out. I am a fool.

So much less productive and distracting. It’s incredible the amount of time wasted on mindless small talk. We still have to have phone calls with external customers and the noise level is unreal and will likely need to pay out of pocket for stronger noise cancelling device to use IN THE OFFICE. What a terrible decision this has been. It su-ks feeling frustrated the entire day. I started scheduling important meetings for when I’m home or I just leave to have the calls from home when I can focus and hear.

My office su-ks. People want to talk all day instead of work. Mondays and Fridays seem to be the quietest days so I guess that’s when I’ll go in

My 1st day back experience: A service dog walking up and down the hall all day (friendly but a distraction), 7 to 8 loud phone calls going on continuously, people walking by on cell phones talking loudly, a clean but fairly empty break room with a few coffees to choose from, water and ice. Som lady crying as it was her last day, and she misses the people but can't stand the company. Totally hurt my productivity by being there not to mention the commute. Also, I knew no one in the office so had no one stopping by to chat. GOING TO THE OFFICE HAD NO POSITIVE IMPACT

Defeated. I badge in, find a spot, and lock in for all-day meetings and when I get time to work on projects scramble to find a huddle room. Badge out and avoid conflict/politics. No HH. I’m going home.

I’m forced to be confined in this jail cell.

The masses will always argue with each other as the people at the top are immune and aloof to any of it.

I hate it. The managers done even show up cause they dont want to be there either. They are scamming the company logging in from mobile devices or laptops but never go ij the office but they forced us back.

looking forward to the first day back next Monday -- free coffee and breakfast bites being served. I will be interested to see how hyped up the folks are that are handing out the goods.

It’s overcrowded and difficult to find a desk. Even when reserving, people take your spot. Too noisy to focus. Definitely not getting more work done.

Ok so there’s a trick to this. Be polite but keep to yourself. Don’t participate in the drama or politics. Don’t tell anyone anything you wouldn’t want the entire office to know.

Other than that you’ll be ok. I guess it’s kinda like prison.

It’s terrible. Toxic. No work is getting done. I’m leaving soon and it’s time. I will not tolerate this environment. I’m sad for friends who have to stay and be subjected to the constant threat of surplus and who are just miserable. No pay check is worth being tormented. I’ll find something if I get bored but I’m better than this. Good luck everyone. Do what’s right for you.

I don’t know. My VP told our group we don’t need to report, but to keep doing what we’re doing so well from home.

I love being back in the AT&T office. I save a lot on energy bills with all this climate change going on.
