42B REASONS THIS TIME IS FOR REAL!! AT&T is deeply committed to bridging this digital divide.

Doesn’t pay when they have access to satellite. Tell the communities to build more homes & stores so there is a reason.

“May the odds be ever in your favor”…. “Stupid people are dangerous” …. “Destroying things is much easier than making them” and “as long as you can find yourself, you’ll never starve”

A great movie series that quotes ring true to Stankey management approach. These are all quotes he once shared with his WB team.

like the government never paid 48k for a $10 hammer

or $1,000 for special screws to hold a handwash station place in some lab.

any government contract is filled with a crapload of excess to cover the kickbacks.

be happy we have government work to get paid extra to help cover the shortfalls of our leaderships ismanagement

This needs repeating. "This" is the company we work for and yet we try to make a difference. I'll blame not one employee if they just phone it in from now on. It's just BAU.

They also tried to argue 3mbs DSL service was 'broadband' for the longest time to keep to govt gravy coming there way. And even then, they got caught not delivering on their commitments. The fines were much less than the subsidy checks that were already cashed. In most circles, this is called fraud, but for T, it's BAU.

Why does rural people need broadband?

"Why DO rural people need broadband" Let me correct that for you.

The same reason rural people need electricity. Check out the The Rural Electrification Act of 1936. Maybe you slept in that class, or more likely you did not attend. You will be let loose as a Prem Tech as many thousands have before, but if some kind of way you've frighteningly weaseled your way into AT&T "management"
AT&T will tidy up, and will find you.
Average job time from Prem tech to "management" to unemployed is about 18 months. It is just an AT&T thing.

The punchline is that Stink is on the hook to do this, because it was part of the merger agreements.

T is obligated to create high-speed access to rural areas and also to provide broadband access at a reduced rate for low-income people because Stink accepted that as part of the approval for recent expansion.

I'm sure he's trying to sleaze his way out of his obligation, because that's just the sort of guy he is.

You clearly don’t understand the program …. The funding is to provide broadband, not POTS.

This story has been playing out for decades. They take the govt money, then BS them about the services installed. Just do some simple google searches and you'll see they lie lie lie to get the money and only deliver a fraction of the commitment. Typical T. I don't see how anyone - customer, employee, govt, dog, cat, Cohen, etc... how can anyone trust a company that gets caught in so many lies?
