Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

ANI redundancies

Layoffs began in ANI on Wednesday with some peoples appointments scheduled next week. Strong rumours that October is going to be much worse with 12k being laid off globally and more again Q1 2024. Good luck all 😞

Q2 results just released. And there you have it folks. Allstate will not be anywhere near Ireland in 5 years time. All our jobs are heading to India. Losing 100's of million every quarter. Barely a job listed on allstateni. There are 100s listed on allstate india. Wake up. Move on. Options are:

  • Get out if you need to.
  • Hang on for severance pay but there is risk in that. Just look into what Prudential (another big american insurance company) did with Pramerica in Co. Donegal. Basically gave the company away to TCS so and didnt have to pay out severance. Many of them at doing that now.

"First official announcement https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-66205821"

Why hide the obvious? For the past two years any one that left ANI was never replaced. Jobs disappeared or went to India instead.

Healy knew along along and sneaked out before it affected his reputation.

A quick look at the current jobs on offer shows a lot of new roles in India, over 100 posted in July, many of them on Friday. There are currently only 4 jobs listed in ANI, one temporary. I don't know if these India only jobs are going to impact ANI, but I suspect they will.

Tom Wilson needs to be held accountable by the BoD and be the first one out the door. But we all know that'll never happen..

His pet project Transformation Growth (or is it Decline?!) is an abject failure

The whole term “redundant” employee is insulting, belittling, and disrespectful. Allstate sickness at the top from their cult studies from the 90’s sure took hold. Do you guys have SAP#’s too? For your employee numbers? Even the simplest of things they’ve turned into a put down. You are not saps. Hold your head up high and file complaints when you leave so this treatment can be exposed. And get a Union going. Sadly, it’s the only way sc-mmy organizations learn not to be.

As someone said here earlier, the secrecy within ANI is crazy. I’m hearing more and more names and by now the threshold at which government agencies need informed, must surely have been reached.

The uncertainty of it all is getting to folks. One thing’s for certain - if ANI starts to grow again in a few years time, no one of any competency will go near them when they hear/read how their staff are being treated over this.

Good luck to everyone affected and ba--s to management who think it’s ok to make people wait weeks to hear their redundancy package

I think its safe to say, the company now has a global foot print and looking under all rocks to find expense savings and will do so where it makes sense. The contributions from each business unit one can summize, is known and the above / below the line decision might still be a work in-progress as employee retention and expense action progress is charted against the commitment. Sad reality of business when the path forward is long and difficult.

I think a lot of people get you can't be too specific or risk being figured out, but are these Oct cuts and vendor moves just folks in ANI or is this also US folks being impacted in Oct?

Our leaders have pretty much told us that in October 2023 that there will be major changes and re-orgs including cuts and vendor moves throughout most areas of the company. They are not giving us lists of impacted areas. Get real if you think that! That is really all I can say without name dropping or possibly revealing myself. What do you want me to do? Name names? Set up an appointment with them so they can tell you themselves? We are being told what we are being told. I don't know how much more on a board like this that anyone can provide anything additional. Kind of at a loss at what information you naysayers seem to want. I guess believe it or don't believe it....I don't know what more to say.

So redundancy over a certain number must be reported as required to government. What you will see happen is that certain individuals will be let go. Others will be given the option of ‘the bench’. This means they won’t have to forewarn government agencies. The bench will see people naturally leave as they will find alternative positions (in or out of the company) or they can be let go in smaller numbers. Entire operations will move slowly to vendors or ASPL. ‘John in Cyber just left, Rohit in ASPL is getting his role’.

Those on the bench will see they’re offered ‘suitable’ positions but Bridie who was in product team, will be offered a call centre role. She will decide to leave as she’s spent a lot of time and money to reach her position with education costs and registration fees to professional bodies.

Good luck to you all. I’m leaving shortly.

The secrecy in ANI is mad. People just disappearing today. Some sending farewell emails. And then seeing some LinkedIn profiles saying they actively looking for work but not letting on if they impacted by cuts.

Scrum Masters were told they are safe after the recent cuts, but seems today, that's the main role I'm seeing farewell emails from.

'October is the next big time for layoffs and movement to vendors for many areas. Likely on par with or bigger than 2020.'

Where did you hear that?

Leaders of some areas are pretty open about such things and much more so anymore. Considering how low morale is anymore the leadership tends to talk more. And I for one have ears.

Missing on expense reduction targets is not an option. Labor costs are the #1 expense of most every company…..its also a death spiral unless the company unlocks new ways (transformational) to compete. #truethat

ANI have been stealthily job cutting for a while know. I know of about a dozen high skilled jobs that were never reposted once the person left ANI. And that's just in the area I am working in.

The roles either disappeared or were posted in India instead. Just look at the ANI Careers site... a total of 3 open positions compared to 30+ in India.

They need to cut the Diversity Equity and Inclusivity jobs first. They produce no real value to the company. All they do is su-k away resources that could be better spent on jobs that produce money for the company.

'What a waste of money that could have gone into reducing our costs by not factoring in their woke bullsh-t jobs. '

Their emails about 'Asexual Awareness Day' (or was it 'Bis-xual Visibility Day'?) did give me a good laugh though.

I'm not sure exactly how that helps the company sell more policies, but important work nonetheless...

Person below is spot on. ANI is indoctrination first, getting on with your job second.

The brainwashing that goes on there is insane. 10 emails a day telling you that a man is a woman and you must believe otherwise you aren't part of the in-crowd.

The last team to leave ANI will be their diversity nonsense team. What a waste of money that could have gone into reducing our costs by not factoring in their woke bullsh-t jobs.

ANI was awful when I was there. Allstate India worse than that. They just don’t get it. Outsourcing, offshoring, near shoring whatever you want to call it, never pays off. I’ve seen data entry, financial spreads, roadside go there and the quality was terrible.
