Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

If They Are Talking……

…… to you about someone they are also talking about you to someone else. Lesson learned for me. During these stressful times of RTO, surpluses, etc be mindful of what you say to your co-workers.

You may have known them for 20 years and consider them family, but everyone is under pressure and when all is said and done, each one of us is focused on how the changes affect ourselves.

Show up and do your work until your number is called by whatever means that may be.

Be kind to people, help others when they are struggling, STOP THE GOSSIP, don’t be a manipulator, be a light in someone’s life, and remember there are ALWAYS people worse off than you.

This storm will pass and when it does, I hope we all have maintained our dignity and respect for ourselves and others.

I would stop the gossip if I got anything in an official communication instead of a vague announcement promising more details and then silence for more than a month. Ask your manager, but they don't know either. Some are afraid to ask in case that puts them on a list. It is a sick system and gossip is sometimes the only way to prepare yourself.

This is so true! Every workgroup has a gossip or two.

OP is correct, It's no secret here. You co-workers are not your friends and they are not your family. Most of them just exist to earn a paycheck at all costs. Unfortunately, most would run over you in a second if it meant elevating themselves. Just be polite, do your job, and learn how to separate co-workers from friendships. Keep details of your personal life out of the workplace and you will be much better off.
