Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Exceptions Galore

As predicted by the employees, cue all the desperate execs making exceptions to the new RTO ‘policy’ since they didn’t do any sort of real impact study before announcing this unrealistic vision of following Elon into the ‘tough CEO’ style management. Someone tell them T is not Twitter…
Already know a bunch of non-hub distance people saying they’ve been designated virtual and so not required to move. Supposed to go ‘into office’ at their own expense 1x per month but what a farce. Once or twice total and it will be forgotten. Not dragging my co-workers but this nonsense rollout that could be planned and handled better by a third year business student.
Guess their new strategy is to offer exceptions to tick off the people who have to travel an hour + each way 3x per week , hoping they’ll quit- those are the ones who won’t get severance.

Also, who will be checking adherence to RTO?

"Also, who will be checking adherence to RTO?"

Metrics reports are already starting to be reviewed.

Many inconsistencies across the company.
Also, who will be checking adherence to RTO?
Obviously, some leaders will “look the other way” for their pet employees.

One use for VO is for anyone that is not in their final destination - and if in ATS that is as far out as 2024 for wave 2. It is also for those that will relo late this year, having a VO in their current city is also possible. These are facts, not just my thoughts.

What do you expect from a dysfunctional organization. Just making excuses to clear out older workers and the ones who don’t suck up.

Not surprisingly they made a drastic change without any planning whatsoever and just expected things to miraculously work out. Then they act surprised that everything is a clusterf***, but refuse to ever admit they made a mistake.

The deception of making many to move to forced them out

How many is "a bunch"?

Are they in specific VP branches, or scattered across business?

I see three options for the non-hub located current TWs: last minute change to virtual, refuse move and get severance, or delay into next year with new non-existent severance.

Sadly the last one is what I'm prepared for.
