Pretending to be hiring?

If we are short staffed and the company has finally decided to hire someone for a certain position, then why isn't anyone getting hired? I don't believe they are simply being too picky about it. Are they just pretending to be hiring or is there another issue at hand?

College hiring is healthy year after year. If that message about low key age discrimination isnt loud enough for ya... probably intentional.

Business Field Services is still hiring in various areas of the country due to workloads! Most of the hires are already employed within T and relocating to the areas required.

We’ve had a hiring freeze for a full year running. The only jobs that pop up are the cruddy sales ones that are always listed.

Short quick answer: they are trying to bring in an h1b. If they don’t find any “qualified” people, then that allows them to apply for an H1B person. It’s an old HR scam. Post job in an obscure place or give it to recruiters, they blast it out (you know those Indian recruiting companies), they won’t hire an American, then say well, we couldn’t find anyone qualified, now they can H1B the job. Google it if you don’t believe me.

In many fields, AT&T does not have competitive compensation or benefits for new hires. There is a tendency to low ball in order to save a buck.

I imagine with the long decline in employee benefits and morale, this is starting to pollute the external talent pool with our "stink".

Even at top level executive positions, I'm hearing we are going with the third or fourth choice to get someone in the door. The more desirable candidates are shooting us down.
