Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why are they trying to make RTO worse and worse?

First they converted most offices to flex cubes, now they are ‘consolidating’ and closing the most convenient locations in many cities so now ppl need to commute even longer into the city and pay for parking etc….no pay raise of course to cover the cost. The ironic part is I have fully remote coworkers since they don’t live near a hub. What does that tell u? It means our jobs can easily and conveniently be done at home…

Consolidation is nothing more than the temporary step on the way to going fully offshore. Hyderabad is the only hub that will exist if this CEO gets his way.

@tjp+1nk8wfD I couldn’t agree more. The consolidation is a reflection of office utilization. If the data shows offices aren’t being utilized…it makes no sense to retain them. None of the offices I’ve been to since RTO started have been anywhere close to full

They want you to quit but you refuse to leave for greener pastures.

They are selling off or getting out of leases so the footprint is smaller. All RTO is doing is propping up the CRE market long enough to keep the businesses afloat. Its not about collaboration - we all know that is a lie. They need to attempt to keep the businesses in the hubs alive long enough to sell without losing their shirts.

I lucked out, no RTO for me. They just announced in the Des Moines area RTO will be Jan next year. Every other week, or 3 days one week, 2 days the next. The other time will be work from home. But they are cutting Mortgage jobs and I just got the Ax. Happily for me!

Just got notified I'm scheduled to move buildings. Layout shows 749 people moving to a space with 485 desks.

Going to be sofa king gross changing up cubes everyday.

Hub strategy is doomed for failure. From a business continuity perspective, why would you put all of your eggs in one basket? With the way climate change and extreme weather have been panning out, the locations for all of Wells Fargo’s Hub locations and offshore assets are geographically located in hot zones that are susceptible to any number of catastrophic naturally occurring disaster scenarios. I’d love to know who underwrote the insurance policy on this?🤡

You all wanted them to start dumping real estate. Well, this is what it looks like. They'd rather have one large location than 2-3 small locations

The entire purpose is to convince you to quit.

It’s getting to the point that I will stop RTO. My office is closing and the one they want everyone to go to is already packed. It’s three times the distance of my current one.
I foresee going in, seeing there is no space, turn around and go home.
All on company time.

Welcome to institutionalized slavery. Jobs don’t pay enough to pay for a decent standard of living anymore. Being remote for over two years without the expense of commuting caused a vast majority of Americans to have surplus income. Forcing us back into a cubicle plantation without even an inflationary increase to offset the cost of living has caused a situation where workers have lost any surplus they built up and have started to go into debt just to keep food on the table and the lights on. Meanwhile, Charlie gets a 20 million dollar payday mostly funded by the offset from tax incentives provided by state and local municipalities to have offices in their districts. Basically we suffer so Charlie can have more in a year than most of us will see in multiple lifetimes. He either has a lot of kids, or a heck of a blow habit.🤫
