Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How and where we work letter

Just got an email from with the subject “Employee Designation & Location Letter”. It’s starting.

I’ve been in Atlanta, and remain there; the letter says I’m in-office effective 7/10.

No real surprise here but I thought people would like to know.

Many of the other hubs don’t have enough room for all the people who would be coming in three to five days a week. They need time to build out space, I would guess.

Not understanding a different timeline for RTO in Atl and RTO in NJ.

If you are already assigned to one of 9 HUB locations why is everyone not starting 7/10?

“live their designation”

Designation is just a social construct, I identify as non-designated!

I got the same letter. Wiebolt org. He says this applies to Atlanta and Dallas. All other locations are expected to “live their designation” by September 5th, whatever that means.

OP again. It came from my supervisor. When I got into the office some people with other supervisors hadn’t gotten theirs yet. So it seems like supervisors have to release it.

The email was from “howandwherewework@ytr.att-mail.com” so I guess they’re using YTR somehow to distribute this. I checked YTR and didn’t see anything there.

Can you share if it came from HR or your supervisor? I'd assume if it was the former, they'll all start coming out while if you have a pos supervisor like me, it might take some time before they "get around to it".

Happy for you not to have to move. Maybe it changes, maybe it doesn’t but glad for now you have some level of understanding about your future.
We should all try to help each other through these very difficult times. This is not easy for any of us and we all need info and support.

OP here, answering some questions:

  • I’m in the Legg org.
  • yes, I know the letter doesn’t promise anything long-term - but on the other hand there was the worst-case scenario where they surprised me and said “congratulations! You’re moving to Dallas!”

Today I have asked my friend about the impact for her (Townes) - she is L2 and hasn't got any letter or any expectations have been discussed with her to cease of her TW status. I am just surprised as somebody mentioned recently that Townes declared 0 TWs.

You are the lucky one. However, doesn’t guarantee you will stay in Atlanta forever. These letters mean nothing.
