Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I cringe when this debacle is labeled RTO

So what that some people have to go back to a pre-covid office! That's what you signed up for. Many of these people complaining the cafeteria is no good lmao! Get over it! You have a place to reasonably go earn your paycheck.

You aren't being asked to uproot your life, take a paycut by having to relocate to a higher cost of living city or getting a surplus letter.

Consider yourself lucky.

You may not be but every state is. Maybe you’re going to get laid off.

Boomers clinging to their obsolete offices so they feel relevant need retire and fade away so common sense may return.

Consider yourself lucky.

Imagine being a bootlicker who gets tossed like a used wet napkin next round of layoffs.

Most craft employees I know who had Modified Rule of 75 or more left last year.
The only ones who stuck around had already (ignorantly) decided on taking the annuity.

18 months? God-damn, maybe I did take the wrong position in the beginning.

Nit sure why T doesn't poll all of craft employees to see who would be willing to leave. I'm quite certain that they would get at least 100 technicians willing to leave this dead zone! T is ki-ling itself with every move and decision it makes!

This Union Dreg will gladly accept a voluntary, but more especially, an involuntary severance package. I'll take that 18 months pay to never think of AT&T again.

Yep, get that. I have had many roles over the years, changing and adapting. But relocating away from the org I support makes zero sense. No cost savings, they will still be at their current, low cost location.

You have been officially notified that you have to relocate? From where and to where? When do you have to report to your new location? Why is the group that you support staying I. What I assume is a not a hub?

This is a necessary way to streamline the business and group positions/functions ions together. T can no longer afford to operate in the status quo. It was too costly and inefficient.

"Mere of the business have to be the top priority." What? I can't even understand that typo by studying a phone or standard keyboard. Oh wait "NEED". I deciphered it, and I ain't no Alan Turing. Are the function's ions positive or negative?? You must have studied chemistry. I know it's Friday, but slow your roll on the booze.

Now to the point at hand. This is not about RTO. We could return to the office we had for many years pre covid, might not like it, but it is what it is. AT&T is trying in great desperation to make people quit by saying their job has moved two States away. They are hoping people feel the threat and say they will not move for the job. It is a Stankey, I mean Slimey way to avoid severance.

OP.Go sit on a catus. I have worked from home for 12 years. Always exceeded on my yearly expectation and review. Stop being tu-d. Cant wait till Stankey shanks you and you are whining on the board. Its just a lottery ticket dude. Yes there are some sh** bag managers and they need to go. Funny thing is they chose the wrong ones. Here we are with morals and integrity working till the end. Saying Sc--w it is not in my moral fiber. I will give it my all. They just chose the wrong one. Funny I knew before my boss told me because a peer who knows nothing about the business and resides it one of the desgnated hub location tipped me off. They knew before me. But I could give a rats behind. Why.? I have had along run and outlived Morris the cat and am ready for the next chapter in my life. When one door closes another one opens. God is on time.

"This is a test"

I fail. I have been a long term, loyal, hard-working, productive employee. But I fail this stupid test. Probably the first time I have actually failed at something in my life.

This is a test. The company is weeding out those that don’t feel they have to do anything asked of them to stay employed. They only want those that feel they can’t leave under any circumstance.

"You aren't being asked to uproot your life, take a paycut by having to relocate to a higher cost of living city or getting a surplus letter."

I'm not sure if this entire post is supposed to be sarcasm or not. The first part sounded like your typical union troll on his 7th lunch break for the day, but then this second paragraph describes EXACTLY what is happening to so many people, makes me think the OP meant for the post to be sarcastic, but it's hard to tell sometimes.

Speaking of Pre-Covid (downvote time guys), some people believe that the government/elites need another pandemic before the next presidential election, because of how great it worked out for them the last time. And how are you going to do this with everyone still working from home? So... RTO? Just saying, another conspiracy theory.

I can tell you that people were vehemently against RTO until they found out about moving to Dallas then they were like ok I’ll come in just let me stay in my hometown. Understandably upset it’s human nature relative to the other it’s much much worse. No comparison.

If I move, it won't be an easy walk to my office for help. If I don't move, they get to wait years for someone to accumulate the business knowledge. Lose-lose proposition.

"10% are complaining about having to move. The other 90 are complaining about the 3 office days."

Yep, I have no issue going into my pre-covid office. I do have an issue relocating to Dallas. Moving from where I have lived for the last 30 years of my adult life. To a higher cost area. Where I have no friends or family. And away from the organization I support and people I collaborate with on a daily basis. Not what I signed up for and have worked hard, long hours for the last 20 years.

No one’s complaining about going to an office. They are complaining about having to move and losing their job. This also isn’t as simple as move and keep your job. This designed to lay people off and doing it without being upfront with people. It’s a sick joke.
