that use to be the number of employees

and had consistent JD Powers awards which drove customers to buy AT&T services
Good point, things are so bad T is not even able to pay what is required to get a JD Powers award
Irrelevant info - so much has changed since that was the number of employees - many assets bought / sold and closed.
"Doing the work of a 100,000 employee requirement base."....
There was work for 200k+ when the company had effective leadership, was building infrastructure for multiple services, and had consistent JD Powers awards which drove customers to buy AT&T services. So, in a way, you're right. Bad CEO leadership hasn't just cut jobs, they've cut the customer demand that's driven the need for those jobs. Either way, everyone from the CEO down to the VPs need fired. That's the only thing that would fix AT&T's position in the market.
"And all of THOSE employees thought they were keeping the company afloat as well." ....
Well, the stock value has consistently dropped, jobs have been lost, AT&T lost DirecTV and Warner, and AT&T has become one of the most uninvestable stocks on the market, as well as rated horribly on Glassdoor and other employee review sites. Sounds like maybe those employees were right, since AT&T hasn't seen a glimpse of success during this 5-year layoff run. A sinking ship isn't exactly "running" anymore, is it, chief? LOL!
It's a vicious cycle. The company cut employees to compensate the debt brought upon by incompetent leaders, and the loss of customers to competitors. Customer service suffered and technology innovation stalled due to employee cuts, and the company continued to cut its way out until it cease to exist.
280k employees was quite a while ago. At end of 2023 will be 140k count. Headed to under 100k in next 2 years.
“Used” to be.
Not “use” to be.
Yahoo Finance and Wikipedia show that T-Mobile US has about 71,000 employees. Of course, AT&T has more service offerings overall than T-Mobile. Still... 4x the headcount? One has to ask the question: what value are all those extra people at AT&T adding to the bottom line.
Stankey was right that is alot of mouths to feed.
And all of THOSE employees thought they were keeping the company afloat as well.
Doing the work of a 100,000 employee requirement base.
The plan is to reach 75k
Was 305k to 310k at one time. This is what happens when everyone from the top down become irrelevant to customers.
